Fliptogram is a Puzzle Society word grid that is a cryptogram in disguise: every tile hides a partner letter, and you flip tiles until each row and column spells a real word. A new grid comes each day on GoComics, scored by how few flips you need, and is included with a GoComics subscription.

About Fliptogram

Fliptogram is one of the Puzzle Society games from Andrews McMeel Universal, played on the GoComics puzzle pages. The Puzzle Society calls it an original word scramble that is a cryptogram in disguise.

The day's board is a small square of letter tiles. Each letter is paired with another one, and the pairing holds across the whole puzzle: tap a tile and it flips to show its partner. Your goal is to flip letters until every row and every column reads as a real word. Tiles that are right turn green, so you can see the grid coming together.

The score rewards economy: the fewer flips you use, the better, and a perfect score means solving the grid without a wasted move. That makes it a puzzle of reasoning about the cipher rather than trying letters at random, since learning one pair tells you something about every tile that shows either letter.

Fliptogram is part of the GoComics subscription, which also opens the other Puzzle Society games such as Caved, Lexigo and the Universal Crossword. It suits players who like cryptograms and Waffle-style letter grids.

How to play Fliptogram

Open Fliptogram on the GoComics puzzles page and sign in with a GoComics subscription.
Look over the grid: each tile shows one letter of a pair, and every pair is the same across the whole board.
Tap a tile to flip it to its partner letter; tap again to flip it back.
Keep flipping until every row and column spells a real word, using as few flips as you can for a better score.

Tips

Work on one row or column at a time, starting with the one where the fewest letters look wrong.
Once you learn which letter pairs with which, use that everywhere the pair appears instead of testing it again.
Check the crossing word before you flip: a flip that fixes a row can break the column through it.
