Lexigo press art: white hexagonal letter tiles on a grey honeycomb, with T highlighted in pink as the start and F and I picked out in dark purple

Lexigo is a daily word game from Andrews McMeel Universal, created by Don Reid. Each day's board is a cluster of hexagonal letter tiles and five clues; starting from the highlighted tile, you spell each answer along a path of touching tiles, and each new word starts with the last letter of the one before. It is played on GoComics Puzzles with a subscription.

About Lexigo

Lexigo was created by Don Reid, the founder of the Canadian games publisher Wiggles 3D, and is syndicated by Andrews McMeel Universal in print and online. On the web it is one of the Puzzle Society games on GoComics, and some newspapers carry it on their own puzzle pages too.

Each day brings one board of hexagonal letter tiles and five clues, with the length of each answer given. The highlighted tile is where the first answer begins. You spell an answer by moving from one tile to a neighbouring one, in any of six directions, and the path can twist and even go back over a tile to use its letter again. The last letter of each answer is the first letter of the next, so the five words form a single chain across the board.

The Puzzle Society bills it as a speed game: the board is small, and the challenge is how fast you can get through all five words. Solving one answer gives you the start of the next, so a quick first word sets up the rest.

Lexigo is included with a GoComics subscription, alongside the other Puzzle Society games such as Hex 10, Caved and Fliptogram. It suits players who like short clued puzzles with a timer.

How to play Lexigo

  1. Open Lexigo on the GoComics puzzles page and sign in with a GoComics subscription.
  2. Read the first clue and its answer length; the highlighted tile gives the answer's first letter.
  3. Spell the answer by tapping touching hexagons in order, in any direction.
  4. Start the next answer on the last letter of the one you just made, and go on through all five clues.
  5. Finish the chain as fast as you can: the timer is part of the challenge.

Tips

  • Use the answer length and the known first letter together before you start tracing.
  • A path may double back over a tile, so do not rule out a word because a letter is already used.
  • If a clue stalls you, look at which letters around the last tile could start a word of the right length.
