A FIVEFOLD puzzle on a phone: a 5x5 grid of coloured digits with pentagon and dot rule symbols, beside the rainbow FIVEFOLD logo

FIVEFOLD is a daily logic puzzle on a 5x5 grid. Place the digits 1 to 5 so each appears once in every row and column, and obey the two rule symbols the day's puzzle uses, such as odd pairs, even pairs, doubles or arrows that point to the smaller number. The rules in play change from day to day.

About FIVEFOLD

FIVEFOLD is a small daily logic puzzle from Milkbag Games whose first daily ran on 10 November 2025. The base is a Latin square: a five by five grid in which each of the five digits appears exactly once in every row and every column. On top of that, each puzzle uses two rule symbols drawn on the lines between cells, and the pair changes every day.

The game knows eight rules. Greater is an arrow from the larger number to the smaller; One Greater is a dotted arrow to a number smaller by one; Greater Greater is a double arrow meaning every cell after it is smaller; Delta shows the difference as a number of dots; Double marks one number as twice the other; Odd/even marks a pair with one of each; and Odd and Even mark pairs where both digits are odd or both are even. The How to Play panel lists the two rules in today's puzzle with examples.

Each daily is numbered and labelled with a difficulty (number 343, Easy, on 19 October 2026). Everyone gets the same puzzle, chosen by date, and the next one arrives at midnight US Eastern time. After solving you can share your result and see how your time compares with other players.

You enter final answers in Normal mode or pencil marks in Notes mode, and a Hint button works out the next logical step. The Dojo offers practice packs, including puzzles with a single rule and sets by difficulty, so you can learn each symbol before it turns up in a daily. The site plays in a browser on a phone or a desktop, and there are iOS and Android apps.

It suits Futoshiki, KenKen and sudoku players who want a short daily grid whose rules are not the same two days running.

How to play FIVEFOLD

  1. Open fivefold.ca and press Start on today's numbered puzzle.
  2. Read the two rules listed under Rules In Today's Puzzle in How to Play.
  3. Tap a cell and press a number button to place a digit so each of 1 to 5 appears once in every row and column.
  4. Make every rule symbol between two cells true: for example both digits odd for one symbol, both even for the other.
  5. Switch to Notes for pencil marks, press Hint when stuck, and share your result when the grid is solved.

Tips

  • Check which two rules today's puzzle uses before placing anything: they change daily.
  • A pair marked Even can only be 2 and 4 on a 1 to 5 grid, so those cells are nearly solved at once.
  • Use Notes mode to track the two or three candidates left in each cell.
  • Practise unfamiliar symbols in the Dojo's single-rule pack.
