Fissle is a daily word grid game. Each day a 4x4 grid of 16 letters hides four words; you trace words through touching letters, diagonals included, and their tiles clear away. Every word you submit burns one of eight fuel cells, so the fewer words you need to clear the grid, the more stars you earn.
About Fissle
Fissle gives every player the same 4x4 grid each day, published at midnight UTC together with a themed 5x5 grid. The 16 letters hide four words. You tap or swipe a path through adjacent letters, diagonals included, and submit it; any valid word is accepted, and its tiles turn into spent slag and leave the board.
The twist is efficiency. You have eight fuel cells and every valid word burns one, while an invalid word costs nothing. The spent tiles give clues: green for a letter in the right place of a hidden word, yellow for a letter that belongs elsewhere. Clear all 16 tiles with fuel to spare and you earn up to five stars; a perfect run uses only the hidden words. Run out of fuel and the core melts down. Compact drops the remaining tiles together, and Undo and Reset let you try another path.
The week has its own twists: Wednesday grids hide three or five words instead of four, and Friday grids use gravity, so the tiles fall after every word and the grid reshapes as you play.
Beyond the daily grid there is the themed 5x5 against the clock, a Speed Streak mode for fast solvers, live 1v1 Challenge races on a shared random grid through a link, an archive of past puzzles, a daily leaderboard and streaks. Fissle is made by Mikisu Studio and plays in the browser and in free iOS and Android apps, with no account needed; it is supported by ads, and a short rewarded ad can unlock a hint.
It suits Strands and Squaredle players who like finding words in a grid and want a puzzle where planning matters more than speed.

Tips
- Aim for the hidden words, not just any word: every extra word costs a fuel cell and a star.
- Corner letters have few neighbours, so find the words that start or end there first.
- Use Undo or Reset to test a path before you commit to it.
- On Fridays the tiles fall after each word, so plan which column a word clears.
- Play the themed 5x5 once the daily is done; it runs against the clock.
Questions
Is the grid the same for everyone?
Yes. A new daily grid and a new themed 5x5 appear at midnight UTC for all players, with a daily leaderboard.
How are stars earned?
The more fuel cells you have left when the grid is clear, the more stars you earn, up to five.
Can I play past grids?
Yes, the archive lets you replay every past puzzle, with a calendar of the ones you have solved.
Is it free?
Yes. The web game and the iOS and Android apps are free and supported by ads; no account is needed.
Why does Wednesday's grid feel different?
Wednesday grids hide three or five words instead of four, still covering all 16 tiles, and Friday grids use gravity, so the tiles fall after each word.
