Entanglement is a calm tile puzzle by Gopherwood Studios. You rotate and place hexagonal tiles etched with paths to extend a single line as far as possible without running into a wall. In the Daily Challenge every player gets the identical tile sequence for the day and competes for the top of the daily leaderboard.
About Entanglement
Entanglement is a hexagonal path-building game from Gopherwood Studios. It began as a web game and came to Steam in October 2017 with all the original maps. The board is a field of hexagons around a central stone. Each tile carries curving paths along its edges. You turn the tile, set it where your line ends, and the line runs on through it.
A turn can chain through several tiles you placed earlier, and longer chains score more per segment. The game ends when the line runs into the outer wall or back into the centre stone. A swap slot holds one tile in reserve, which helps when the tile in hand points the wrong way.
The Daily Challenge gives every player the same tiles in the same order for the whole day, so only your placements decide the score. At the end of the day the top score is named Daily Challenge Champion and earns 50 points. The rest of the top ten get 10 and everyone else who took part gets 1, and these points build weekly and all-time tables. The maker still adds to it. A triangle-shaped map turned up in the Daily Challenge in August 2026, and Steam accounts were linked to the leaderboards in July 2026.
Beside the daily there is a solitaire mode with several maps, a local multiplayer table for up to six with optional bots, and since October 2026 a beta of online multiplayer. The free web version at gopherwoodstudios.com plays the Classic map on a desktop or a phone. Its Daily Challenge and extra maps come in an Expansion Pack tied to a Google login.
It suits players who like quiet spatial puzzles and planning a few tiles ahead.
How to play Entanglement
- Open the Steam version and choose Daily Challenge from the Solitaire maps.
- Turn the tile in hand with the arrow keys or the mouse wheel until its paths fit where your line ends.
- Place it. The line follows the paths through every tile it reaches.
- Swap the tile in hand for the one in reserve when the reserve fits better.
- Keep going until the line hits the wall or the centre. Your score goes onto the day's leaderboard.
