on puzzle-kakurasu.com

The Special Daily Kakurasu on puzzle-kakurasu.com is one Kakurasu grid a day, the same for every player. You blacken cells so that the position values of the black cells in each row and column add up to the clue at the end of that line. The daily grid is bigger than the site's regular sizes, which stop at 9x9.
About Daily Kakurasu
Kakurasu is a shading puzzle with a bit of addition. The columns are numbered 1, 2, 3 and so on from the left, and the rows from the top. A black cell in a row is worth its column number, and a black cell in a column is worth its row number. Each row has a target on the right and each column a target at the bottom, and you blacken cells until every line adds up exactly.
Puzzle-kakurasu.com has Easy and Hard grids from 4x4 to 9x9, plus Special Daily, Weekly and Monthly puzzles. The daily is one dated grid for everyone; the one for 2 October 2026 was 10 by 10. A click blackens a cell and a right-click marks it with an X. The site shows ads; patrons can turn them off and go back through the last 30 daily puzzles.
Kakurasu sits between number puzzles and shading puzzles, so it suits sudoku players who want something new and nonogram players who like counting along lines. A 10x10 daily usually takes ten to thirty minutes, and big clues are a good way in: a row that needs 50 of a possible 55 leaves only cell 5 white.
The page has a timer, undo and redo, a zoom, and settings such as night mode, error highlighting and a left-handed layout. Fast solvers appear in the site's Hall of Fame. The site and its puzzles can be switched to more than a dozen languages, and the same puzzles are in the PuzzleGym app for iOS and Android.

Tips
- Work out each line's maximum: on a 10x10 grid every row adds up to 55 if fully black, so a clue near 55 tells you which few cells stay white.
- Small clues have few ways to be made: a clue of 1 or 2 is a single cell, and a clue of 3 is either cell 3 or cells 1 and 2.
- A clue larger than the sum of all remaining unknown cells except one forces that cell to be black.
- Write out the possible sets for a line and keep only the ones that agree with the columns crossing it.
