Daily Investigation is a free browser deduction game on itch.io with two cases a day. In Daily Suspect you scan traits across a board of 24 portraits and accuse the culprit in as few scans as you can; in Daily Crosscheck you reveal clues in a grid of 36 characters, find the seven liars and pick the killer from among them.
About Daily Investigation
Daily Investigation is a small detective game by the itch.io developer erkamaj, released on 18 April 2026. It plays in the browser and serves two different kinds of deduction each day, both dated on its home screen.
Daily Suspect lays out 24 drawn portraits on a cork board. You pick a trait to scan (age, face, hair style and colour, eye colour, clothing colour), read the yes or no result, eliminate the people who do not fit and accuse the one left. The aim is to find the culprit with the fewest scans.
Daily Crosscheck is a six by six grid of characters. You reveal one clue per suspect, mark each statement true or a lie, collect all seven liars and then work out which liar is the killer. It is close in spirit to grid deduction games like Clues by Sam, with a liar count and a final killer to name.
Every player gets the same two cases on the same day, and they change at midnight UTC. A case calendar lets you go back to earlier days. There is no account, no download and no advertising, and the developer runs a subreddit for updates and discussion.
It suits players who like liar puzzles and Guess Who style elimination and want two short cases with a detective look.
How to play Daily Investigation
- Open the game on itch.io and pick Daily Suspect or Daily Crosscheck, then press Play and Start.
- In Daily Suspect, choose a trait, scan it and read whether the culprit has it.
- Eliminate every portrait that does not match, and accuse the last one standing in as few scans as you can.
- In Daily Crosscheck, reveal a character's clue and mark it true or a lie.
- Find all seven liars, then choose the killer among them; come back after midnight UTC for new cases.

Tips
- In Crosscheck, a statement that calls someone a liar links two people, so follow those chains.
- In Suspect, scan the trait that splits the remaining portraits closest to half and half.
- Use the case calendar to practise on earlier days.
- On a phone the board can run off the screen edge; a desktop or tablet in landscape is easier.
