Daily Five #135 on Fri 23 Oct being played: CRANE on the first row with R yellow and E green, five empty rows, the coloured keyboard and the how-to-play panel beside it

Daily Five is the daily word game on FiveLetterWords: one hidden five-letter word a day, the same for every player, found in six guesses with coloured tile feedback. It needs no account, keeps a daily win streak, and opens to a practice mode and a friend challenge once the day's word is done.

About Daily Five

Daily Five is the shared daily puzzle on FiveLetterWords, a site of Wordle solvers, hints and strategy guides run by its founder, Matthew. Each day brings one numbered word, and everyone who plays that day is guessing the same one. The word changes at midnight where you are.

A round works like the game it is modelled on. You type a five-letter word and press Enter, and each tile turns green if the letter is in the right place, yellow if it is in the word somewhere else, or gray if the word has no unused copy of it. Letters can repeat. You have six guesses.

What sets it apart is the analysis around it. The site is built around a solver, and after the puzzle ends a post-game coach explains which of your guesses narrowed the remaining words well, with an optional choice score out of 100 that compares your guesses with the solver's top picks. Suggestions stay hidden until you finish, so the daily word is still yours to solve.

Beside the daily word there is a Practice mode with as many extra words as you like, a Training mode, and a Challenge a friend link that sends someone a word you picked. Stats keep your games played, win rate, daily win streak and guess distribution in the browser. It suits Wordle players who want a second word each morning and those curious about how good their guesses really were.

How to play Daily Five

  1. Open Daily Five on FiveLetterWords; the Daily tab shows today's puzzle number and date.
  2. Type any valid five-letter word and press Enter.
  3. Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, gray means no unused copy of that letter.
  4. Use the colours to choose your next guess, keeping greens in place and moving yellows.
  5. Find the word within six guesses, then share your grid or read the post-game review of your choices.

Tips

  • Remember that letters can repeat, so a gray tile on a second copy of a letter does not rule out the first.
  • Read the post-game coach after each day to see which of your guesses split the remaining words best.
  • Use Practice mode to try new openers without risking your daily win streak.

Questions

When does Daily Five change?

The site says everyone gets the same daily word, changing at midnight where you are.

Do I need an account?

No. The page says one puzzle a day with no account needed; your stats are kept in the browser.

Can I play more than one word a day?

Yes. The daily word is one a day, but Practice mode gives new words whenever you like, and you can send a friend a word with Challenge a friend.
