Today's Daily 1 to 25 Puzzle 1 on str8ts.com: a green 5x5 board with 15 placed, ringed by yellow numbered chevrons, with Puzzle 1 to 4 buttons and a timer

Daily 1 to 25 is a number-chain puzzle by Andrew Stuart and Jeff Widderich, with four new boards a day on str8ts.com. Each number waits on the ring around a 5x5 board and can only move in along its row, column or diagonal. Place them all so 1 to 25 form one unbroken chain.

About Daily 1 to 25

1 to 25 is a puzzle by Andrew Stuart and Jeff Widderich, the pair behind Str8ts, and its Daily '1 to 25' Puzzles page on str8ts.com gives four puzzles to play online, with a timer, a restart button and a printable version. The four boards change every day and carry that day's date, and the player keeps your progress if you leave and come back.

The board is a 5x5 square surrounded by a ring of numbered chevrons. Each number from 2 to 25 sits on the ring and points the way it can move: numbers on the left and right edges go into their row, numbers at the top and bottom go into their column, and the corners point diagonally across the board, so every number has only five possible squares. One number starts on the board.

The second rule is the chain: each number must sit next to the one before it, above, below, beside or diagonally, so that the finished board snakes from 1 to 25 without a break. You click a number on the ring to slide it along its line, or type numbers into the squares.

It suits players who enjoy Hidato, Numbrix and other number-path puzzles, and anyone who already plays the daily Str8ts and SudokuWiki puzzles from the same makers.

The page is free to play with no account. It has no adverts in play; a Buy Me a Coffee button asks for support, and a sign-up link offers more puzzles by email.

How to play Daily 1 to 25

  1. Open one of the day's four puzzles.
  2. Find the number already placed on the board.
  3. Click a number on the outer ring to move it along its row, column or diagonal into one of its five possible squares.
  4. Place each number next to the one before it, including diagonally, so the numbers run in order.
  5. Fill all 25 squares to finish, then try the next puzzle.

Tips

  • Start from the number already on the board and work outwards to its neighbours in the sequence.
  • Each number has only five possible squares, so cross out the ones its predecessor cannot reach.
  • Corner chevrons can only land on a diagonal; place them early, they have the fewest options.
  • Use the printable version if you prefer to work it out on paper.
