CourseGuessr's satellite view of the Old Course at St Andrews beside the beach, a round of daily #10 on 20 October 2026

CourseGuessr shows you a golf course from above in satellite imagery and asks you to find it on a world map. The daily game has five courses, the same for everyone, each worth up to 5,000 points by how close your pin lands. Your total goes on a daily leaderboard, and playing on consecutive days builds a streak.

About CourseGuessr

CourseGuessr is a map guessing game built around golf courses. Each round shows a satellite view of one course, with its fairways, greens, bunkers and whatever lies around it: coastline, desert, forest, housing or farmland. You place a pin on a separate world map where you think the course is, and the game shows how far off you were. It is made by aabergkvist AB, and its daily game began on 11 October 2026.

The daily game is five rounds, the same for every player that day, taken from a dated schedule over a pool of more than 15,000 courses, from famous championship venues such as the Old Course at St Andrews to small private clubs. A pin within half a kilometre of the course earns the full 5,000 points, and the score falls away gradually with distance, so a guess on the right continent still earns something. At the end you get a result to share, a place on the daily leaderboard and a streak count. A Region zoom switch opens the guess map on the course's continent; a daily played with it on is marked as such on the leaderboard.

Once a day is over, the game's daily archive lists that day's five courses with their towns and countries, and every course in the pool has its own page with its aerial view and the courses near it.

Outside the daily you can play extra games filtered by kind of course (famous courses, championship venues, private clubs) or by region and country, where the guess map stays inside the chosen area. Those extra games are limited to five a month on the free plan, with more for inviting a friend, while a Pro plan (monthly, yearly or once for life) removes the limit. The daily and challenges sent between friends stay free, and no account is needed to play; signing in by email keeps your games and Pro across the website and the game's iPhone and Android apps.

It suits golfers who know courses by their layout, and players of satellite and map guessing games who like reading terrain, climate and coastline for clues.

How to play CourseGuessr

Tips

  • Look past the course itself: palm trees, desert scrub, snow, links dunes or dense pine forest narrow down the climate quickly.
  • Zoom out from the course to find a coastline, a river or a town grid; these place it far better than the fairways do.
  • When unsure, pin in the middle of the most likely region: the score drops gradually with distance, so a central guess loses less than a wrong corner.

Questions

Is CourseGuessr free?

The daily round and friends' challenges are always free and need no account. Extra games outside the daily are limited to five a month on the free plan; a Pro plan, billed monthly, yearly or once for life, makes them unlimited.

How is a round scored?

Each round is worth up to 5,000 points. A pin within half a kilometre of the course gets the full score, and the points fall off gradually with the distance between your pin and the course, so a daily game is out of 25,000.

When does the daily change?

The daily number is counted from the date on your device, so a new set of five courses is there after midnight where you are.

Can I see past daily courses?

Yes. The daily archive at courseguessr.com/daily lists the five courses of every finished daily game, with their towns and countries.
