Satle shows you a city from directly above and gives you six tries to name it. You start zoomed in tight, and every wrong guess pulls the satellite view further out and tells you how far and in which direction the answer lies from your guess.
About Satle
Satle is a daily geography game on the web and on iOS and Android. The puzzle is a single city somewhere in the world, the same for everyone that day, shown in satellite imagery. The first view is close enough to pick out cars on a bridge, so the opening guess is often a hunch from rooftops, river colour or road markings.
Each wrong guess zooms the image out further and shows a banner with the distance and compass direction from your guess to the answer, for example 5569 km north-east of New York. You can tap earlier guesses to go back to the earlier, closer images. Guesses come from an autofill list of cities and countries, and the distance can be shown in kilometres or miles.
The web game moved to satle.ca in February 2023 and carried players' stats across; the app versions, published by Reality Wargames, followed in 2025. A countdown shows when the next city arrives, at midnight in your own time zone. Stats track wins, streaks and how many guesses you needed.
Compared with Worldle, which shows a country's outline, Satle is about reading a real place from the air, which suits people who like maps, aerial photos and GeoGuessr-style detective work.
How to play Satle
- Open Satle and look at the close-up satellite image.
- Type a city and pick it from the autofill list, then press Guess.
- Read the distance and direction from your guess to the answer.
- Look at the wider view that each wrong guess reveals and guess again.
- Name the city within six tries; tap earlier guesses to see the closer images again.

Tips
- On the first image, look at the side of the road traffic drives on and the style of road markings.
- Rivers, coastlines and bridges are the strongest clues once the view zooms out.
- Use the compass direction from a central guess, such as a big city mid-continent, to narrow the region quickly.
