Composition
Rate itDraw lines to trap bouncing dots, and each finished canvas becomes a Mondrian-style painting.
on playcomposition.com

Composition is a daily line-drawing game in the spirit of Jezzball. You swipe across a canvas to wall off bouncing dots, and every space you close with no dot inside fills with red, yellow, blue or white until the canvas looks like a Mondrian. Everyone gets the same board each day, with three tries and a clock to beat, in the browser or on iPhone and iPad.
About Composition
Composition is a daily puzzle from Babs Technologies, played in the browser at playcomposition.com and in an iPhone and iPad app released in October 2026. The canvas holds a number of black dots that bounce around without stopping. You swipe across it to draw a straight line, which grows out from where you started. If a dot hits the line before it is finished, the line breaks; once it reaches the edges, it stays.
Every space you close off with no dot inside fills with paint. Paint three quarters of the canvas and the board is done, and what is left is a painting of black lines and planes of colour in the manner of Piet Mondrian. Finished canvases hang in a gallery in the app, each named after its colours, biggest first, the way Mondrian titled many of his works.
The daily board is numbered and dated, and it is the same for everyone in the world. It changes at midnight UTC. You get three tries, and the clock only starts with your first line. Difficulty follows the week: Monday is the gentlest, the boards build to Saturday, and Sunday is calm again. Each board lists its dots, the walls already drawn and how many spare lines you have, and a hint is there if you want one. Since the app update of 19 October, a pause covers the canvas until you come back, so pausing no longer costs your place on the leaderboard.
In the app you race the friend just ahead of you on today's board, or your own best, or the fastest time in the world, and their lines appear over yours in pencil when you finish. There is also a mode for two or three people to paint one canvas together, on one phone passed around or on their own phones. Today's board is free every day; a single purchase adds every past board and 45 more Studies, the game's practice levels. There are no ads and no account to make, and the daily board and the Studies work offline in the app.
It suits players who like a short test of timing and nerve more than a word or number puzzle, and anyone who enjoys ending the day's game with a small picture to keep.
How to play Composition
- Open today's board at playcomposition.com or in the Composition app, and skip the short Study if it opens first.
- Swipe across the canvas to start a line. It grows out across the canvas until it reaches an edge or another line.
- Time each line so no bouncing dot hits it before it is finished, or the line breaks.
- Close off spaces with no dots in them. Each one fills with colour.
- Watch your spare lines and keep fencing the dots into smaller spaces until three quarters of the canvas is painted.
- You have three tries at the day's board. Share your time or your painting when you finish.

Tips
- The clock starts only with your first line, so watch how the dots move before you swipe.
- Draw lines in a part of the canvas the dots have just left, so they are less likely to reach the line before it finishes.
- If the clock makes you rush, the eye beside it hides the time while you play.
- Open Show a hint under the board when you are stuck. On 27 October it said to start with a horizontal line in the top left.
- Start the week on Monday's board to learn the feel before the harder boards toward Saturday.
