Colorle is Wordle with colour codes. Each day there is one six-character hexadecimal colour, such as #3DE5C0, and you have six tries to type it, with tiles showing which digits are right and in place.

About Colorle

Colorle is a daily guessing game made by Kevin Chan. Instead of a word, the answer is a colour code: six hexadecimal digits from 0 to 9 and A to F, as used on the web to describe a colour in red, green and blue parts. #000000 is black and #FFFFFF is white.

The day's code comes from a fixed list that started on 30 January 2022 and moves one step each day, so every player gets the same colour. You type a six-digit guess on the on-screen keypad and the tiles change colour like in Wordle: right digit in the right place, right digit in the wrong place, or not in the code. Each hexadecimal value is used only once in a code.

A hint button shows the target colour itself, which turns the puzzle into a mix of colour sense and deduction: you can estimate how much red, green and blue it has before narrowing the digits. Stats are kept in your browser, with a guess distribution, your current and best streak and a countdown to the next colour, and you can copy your result to share it. There is a dark mode, and the game shows no ads and asks for no sign-up.

It suits designers, web developers and Wordle players who want a numeric twist.

How to play Colorle

  1. Type a six-character hex code (0-9 and A-F) and press Enter.
  2. Read the tiles: right digit in the right spot, right digit in the wrong spot, or not in the code.
  3. Use the hint to see the target colour and estimate its red, green and blue parts.
  4. Find the code within six tries, then check your stats.

Tips

  • Digits come in pairs: the first two are red, the middle two green, the last two blue.
  • A bright colour has high first digits in at least one pair; a dark one has low ones.
  • Each digit appears only once, so do not repeat a digit in a guess.
  • Use your first two guesses to cover as many of the 16 digits as possible.
