Color Memory Game daily, round 1 of 5 result: the dark green target beside the guess, scored 3.44 out of 10, with hue, saturation and brightness off

The daily mode of Color Memory Game shows everyone the same five colours each day. Each one flashes for four seconds and disappears, and you recreate it with hue, saturation and brightness sliders. Each colour scores out of 10, and your daily total out of 50 goes on a leaderboard.

About Color Memory Game

Color Memory Game is a browser site by John Kyprianou with more than twenty colour games, from slider matching and hex code guessing to a Stroop test and multiplayer rooms for up to eight players. Its Daily mode, billed as the colour Wordle, is the one shared puzzle: five target colours chosen from the calendar date in UTC, so every player sees the same shades in the same order on the same day. The start card shows the date and a countdown to the next set.

A round is short. A colour fills the screen for four seconds, then vanishes, and you are left with three tall sliders for hue, saturation and brightness down the side of the board. You set them to match what you remember and press the target button. There are no decoys or multiple choice options, and you get one try at each of the five colours.

Each guess is compared with the target using CIEDE2000, a measure of colour difference that follows how the eye judges it. The result card puts the target beside your guess, scores the round out of 10 and says how far off your hue, saturation and brightness were. The five round scores add up to a daily total out of 50, which goes on the daily leaderboard. Playing on consecutive UTC days builds a streak, and a free account can bank a streak freeze for a missed day.

The unlimited Solo mode uses the same rules with a random set each time, which makes it the place to practise before your one daily run. Since October 2026 there is also a paid iPhone app with the same daily, which plays offline and has no ads. The daily suits anyone who liked Afterglow or Dialed Color and wants a test of visual memory rather than of colour names or mixing.

How to play Color Memory Game

  1. Open the daily page; the start card shows today's date and the time left until the next set.
  2. Press the start button and watch the first colour for the four seconds it is on screen.
  3. Use the hue, saturation and brightness sliders to rebuild it from memory, then press the target button to submit.
  4. Read the round card: your score out of 10 and how far off each slider was, then go to the next round.
  5. Repeat for all five colours and post your total out of 50 to see where it sits among the day's players.

Tips

  • Play a round or two of Solo first so your eye is warmed up before the run that counts.
  • During the four seconds, name the colour to yourself in rough words, such as dark muted teal.
  • Set the hue first; getting the colour family right matters more than fine brightness.
  • The day turns over at midnight UTC, not local midnight, so plan your streak around that.

Questions

When does the daily colour game reset?

At midnight UTC. The start card counts down to the next set of five colours.

Is the daily the same for everyone?

Yes. The five colours are generated from the UTC date, so every player gets the same shades in the same order.

How many tries do I get?

One run a day, with one guess at each of the five colours.

How is the score worked out?

Each guess is compared with its target by perceptual colour distance (CIEDE2000) and scored out of 10, so the daily total is out of 50.

Do I need an account?

No. A free account reserves your name and lets you bank a streak freeze.

Is there an app?

Yes, a paid iPhone app, Color Memory Game: Hue Match, has the same daily challenge, plays offline and has no ads. The website is free with ads.
