A hand-picked chess tactic from a real tournament game, one a day for everyone.

ChessPuzzle.net's Daily Chess Puzzle for 22 October 2026: Reith versus Berkley, Warwick 2026, Black to win, beside the note that the archive holds more than 2,000 past dailies

ChessPuzzle.net posts one chess puzzle a day, picked by the site's owner from a real tournament game and shown with the players and event beside the board. Everyone gets the same position, you play the winning line on the board, and more than 2,000 earlier dailies sit in an archive. The site also offers rated puzzle training, courses and a leaderboard.

About ChessPuzzle.net Daily Chess Puzzle

ChessPuzzle.net is a chess tactics site run by Martin Bennedik. Its Daily Chess Puzzle page has run for many years: each day the owner picks one position from a real tournament game, often a recent one, and publishes it as the puzzle of the day. The board is shown with the task, such as Black to win, and with the names, ratings, event, place and date of the game it came from. On 22 October 2026 it was a position from Reith against Berkley at the British Championship Major Open in Warwick, Black to win.

You open the daily from its page and solve it on the board by playing the moves, and the puzzle goes on until you have won material or given mate. A Hint button names the main motif of the position, such as a deflection, and a Solution button shows the line. The board can also be played from the keyboard, and a text description of the position is there for screen readers. The daily needs no account.

Because there is one puzzle a day for every visitor, it is easy to compare with friends. The site offers an RSS feed, social posts, a browser reminder for signed-in players and embed code so others can show the daily on their own pages. The site and its daily are translated into about twenty languages, from German and Spanish to Japanese and Arabic.

The archive holds more than 2,000 past daily puzzles to work through, and the wider site has rated tactics training, an academy of courses and a leaderboard. The puzzle pages carry display ads beside the board; a Premium plan removes them.

It suits club players and improving beginners who want one realistic tactic a day from games played by real people.
