CFBordle plays like Wordle, but every answer is a five-letter word from college football, such as a coach's surname, a mascot or a school nickname. You get six guesses and coloured tiles after each one, and the puzzle number goes up by one each day.
About CFBordle
CFBordle is a Wordle for college football fans, hosted on a redditcfb.com address alongside the r/CFB community. The rules are the ones Wordle players know: six tries to find a five-letter word, with each letter coloured after a guess to show whether it is in the right place, in the word but elsewhere, or not in it at all.
The difference is the answer list. Every solution comes from college football: coaches such as Saban, Meyer and Rhule, mascots like Aubie, Bucky and Zippy, team names like Tulsa and Idaho, nicknames like Canes and chants like Geaux. Your guesses can be any ordinary English five-letter word, so you can still open with a word you trust and narrow it down.
The first puzzle was on 14 February 2022 and the count has gone up by one each day since. The game works the day out from your own clock, so a new word arrives at local midnight. The answers run through a fixed list of 170 words in order, so the same word comes round again after about five and a half months.
It suits fans who know the sport's coaches and traditions as well as its teams; a general Wordle player will find some answers hard to reach without that.
The icons along the top switch on a hard mode, where every revealed letter must be used in later guesses, a dark theme and a high-contrast colour set. The stats panel counts your streak and guess spread and offers a share grid, with a separate button for posting it to Discord. There is no account, and no ads on the page.
