Celebrity Eyes
Rate itName the celebrity from a close-up of their eyes, in six tries.
on taq.is

Celebrity Eyes shows a photo cropped tight on one famous person's eyes. You type their last name, the letters turn colours as in Wordle, and every wrong guess zooms the photo further out. You have six tries.
About Celebrity Eyes
Celebrity Eyes is a small daily guessing game. Each puzzle is a single photograph of a well-known person, actors, musicians, athletes and other public figures, and it opens cropped so close that you see only the eyes.
You guess by typing the person's last name into a fixed grid, the way you would type a word in Wordle. Letters in the right place, letters in the name but in the wrong place, and letters not in it are coloured differently, so even a wrong name tells you something about the answer. Each miss also zooms the picture out a step, until by the last of your six tries most of the face is showing. If a person is best known by more of their name, the game says so.
Puzzles are numbered and change at midnight in your own time zone, with everyone getting the same person for that date. Since autumn 2026 the days run in themed weeks, from Marvel Week to Horror Icons, Movie Villains and Halloween Icons, and so far every face has been a film actor. The photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are credited to their photographers. Now and then the site also runs a one-off bonus puzzle beside the daily one.
A calendar button opens the Time Machine, where earlier days can be played as practice without touching your streak, and a stats panel keeps your streak and guess spread.
It mixes two kinds of clue, the picture and the letter colours, so you can solve it either by recognising a face early or by working out the name from the grid.
How to play Celebrity Eyes
- Look at the close-up of the day's celebrity's eyes.
- Type a guess for their last name on the grid, which has one box per letter, and press Enter.
- Read the colours: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the name elsewhere, grey is not in it.
- After each wrong guess, look again at the photo as it zooms out.
- Name the person within six tries, then share your result or open the calendar to play an earlier day.

Tips
- The length of the grid tells you how long the last name is, which rules out many people at once.
- Use an early guess to test common letters even if you do not know the face yet.
- Eyebrows, glasses and make-up in the first crop are often more telling than the eyes themselves.
Questions
When does Celebrity Eyes change?
At midnight in your own time zone. Everyone gets the same celebrity for the same date.
Do I type the full name?
No, the last name. The colours work like Wordle on the letters of that name.
Can I play past days?
Yes. The calendar icon opens the Time Machine with earlier puzzles, played as practice so they do not change your streak.
Where do the photos come from?
Wikimedia Commons; each photo is credited to its photographer.
