Arkadium's Fill Ins
Rate itA crossword without clues: fit each day's list of words into the grid.
on arkadium.com

Arkadium's Fill Ins is a free daily word puzzle in the browser. Instead of clues you get the answers, sorted into Across and Down lists, and the job is to work out where each word goes from its length and the letters it shares with its neighbours. A month calendar keeps the earlier days open, and a reveal button helps when you are stuck.
About Arkadium's Fill Ins
Fill Ins is one of Arkadium's word games, played free in the browser on arkadium.com with ads, and also carried on game portals such as azgames.io under the name Daily Fill Ins. Its own how-to screen sums it up: it is like a crossword, but the words are given instead of clues, and the goal is to fit them all into the grid.
Each puzzle is a 15 by 15 crossword-shaped grid with a list of words beside it, split into Across and Down. Every word in the list fits somewhere, and the only question is where. You start from a word whose length matches just one slot, place it, and its letters then decide which words can cross it. One letter is already filled in to get you going.
The game opens on a calendar of the current month. Each day is a card with its difficulty in one to three stars and a Play button, and the days already past in the month can still be played, so a missed day is not lost; days still to come stay greyed out. A monthly score adds up the points of the puzzles you solve, and the day's own puzzle is worth a 50 point daily bonus. You can also step back to earlier months.
Above the grid sit a timer, undo and redo, a check button, a reveal button and a print button, and the settings let you hide the timer or turn the helpers off. No account is needed to play, and the Arkadium page keeps a leaderboard for the game.
It suits crossword players who enjoy filling a grid but want a puzzle that is all fitting and deduction, without needing to know the answers to clues.

Tips
- Start with the longest words or a length that appears only once: they have the fewest places to go.
- Cross words off as you place them, and count how many of each length are left.
- When two words of the same length could fit a slot, look at the letters the crossing words need.
- Play the day's own card on the day: it carries a 50 point bonus toward the monthly score.
- Turn off the timer in the settings if you would rather not see the clock.
Questions
Is there a new Fill Ins puzzle every day?
Yes. Each day of the month has its own grid on the game's calendar, the same for every player.
Can I play a puzzle I missed?
Yes. The calendar keeps the earlier days of the month open to play, and you can step back to earlier months as well.
How is a fill-in different from a crossword?
A fill-in gives you the answers instead of clues. You only have to work out where each word goes.
Is it free?
Yes. It plays free in the browser with ads and needs no account; Arkadium also sells an ad-free membership.
