A crossword with no clues: fit every number from the list into the grid.

Number Fill-In #1023 for 19 October 2026 on Puzzleship: the very easy 8x8 grid with 4904 placed, beside its lists of 3, 4, 5 and 6-digit numbers

Number Fill-In looks like a crossword but has no clues. You get an empty grid and a list of numbers grouped by length, and each number fits exactly one slot. Lengths narrow the options and crossings finish the job.

About Number Fill-In (Puzzleship)

Every number is used once and nothing is left over. You click a slot and pick a number from the list, and numbers that cross must agree on the shared digit. The whole puzzle can be solved from shape and digits alone.

Two optional aids sit behind the gear button: one flags a slot that can no longer be completed by any remaining number, without comparing against the answer; the other dims numbers that clash with digits already in the selected slot. Either way you cannot place a number that conflicts.

Puzzleship publishes six grids of Number Fill-In a day, graded from very easy to ultra hard. Each day's grids are numbered and dated, the same for every player, and a new set goes up at 13:00 UTC, though the page's countdown text says midnight your time; earlier days stay playable in the archive. The site is free with ads, and a premium plan removes them.

How to play Number Fill-In (Puzzleship)

  1. Open Number Fill-In and pick one of the day's six grids.
  2. Find the number lengths with the fewest entries and place those first.
  3. Click a slot, then choose a number that fits its length and crossings.
  4. Use the crossing digits to narrow the next slots.
  5. Finish when every number is placed.

Tips

  • Start with the length that has only one number.
  • Once a few numbers are down, read the grid rather than the list.
  • Unusual digits in crossings narrow choices quickly.
  • Turn on the mistake highlight if dead ends keep surprising you.
