on playappdle.com

Appdle is a free daily guessing game about well-known apps, software and games. Each guess you type is compared with the answer on six clues: type, category, launch year, company, platforms and brand colours. You have eight tries, and the answer is the same for everyone that day.
About Appdle
Appdle asks one question a day: which app are we thinking of? The answer might be a phone app, a desktop program or a video game, and each puzzle carries a number so players can compare results.
You search for any product and submit it as a guess. Six clue boxes then show how your guess lines up with the answer: whether the type and category match, whether the answer launched earlier or later, whether the company is the same or shares an owner, whether the platforms overlap and whether the brand colours belong to the same family. After the first guess a hint can be unlocked. A methodology page explains how each attribute is decided, and a corrections address takes reports of a wrong clue.
A new puzzle comes out at 00:00 UTC for the whole world, and no account is needed to play the daily. Up to three free bonus games a day let you keep going without touching your streak. A paid Appdle+ tier is announced with unlimited games, an archive of earlier puzzles and category play, but its checkout is not open yet. The game shows no ads.
It suits players who know their way around app stores and tech companies, and who like the column-clue style of the character -dles but with products instead of characters.
How to play Appdle
- Open Appdle and type the name of any app, program or game into the search box.
- Pick a product from the list to submit it as your guess.
- Read the six clue boxes: a tick means the attribute matches, amber means a partial overlap, a cross means no match.
- Use the year arrows to tell whether the answer launched earlier or later than your guess.
- Narrow down the answer within eight guesses, then check your stats and come back after midnight UTC.

Tips
- Open with a product from a big company that runs on many platforms, so the company and platform clues tell you more.
- An amber company clue means the two makers share an owner, so think of sister brands.
- Watch the type clue first: it tells you whether you are hunting an app, software or a game.
