Games like GeoGuessr: daily where-am-I games
GeoGuessr's Daily Challenge gives everyone the same five Street View spots a day, but it needs an account and the rest of the game sits behind a subscription. These daily games keep the same idea, work out where you are from what you see or hear, and most are free in a browser.

PlaceGuessr's Daily Challenge is the closest to GeoGuessr's own: three Google Street View places a day, the same for every player, where you look around, walk down the road for clues and pin your guess within three minutes a round. It needs a free account and gives one scored attempt. DailyGuessr is slower and simpler: one 360 degree panorama a day, no timer, and five pins, with the distance after each guess and a direction arrow from the second. Wild Space Atlas also uses Street View, five places a day with one attempt, but you choose each place from three options rather than pinning it on a map.
Photo games ask for a pin instead of a walk. WhereTaken's pin-on-the-map daily shows five photos and scores each by how far your pin lands, up to 1,000 points a day. TravelGuessr gives four travel photos you can zoom and pan, Snaptrip five with a global daily ranking, and Pinoculars five landmark photos that start zoomed in and score you on speed as well as distance. Building Guessr's Daily Challenge gives five famous buildings to pin, and asks whether each still stands. Location Guesser from the Times of India swaps the photo for a short video. Around Here Somewhere and StreetSeekr turn Street View into a hunt: walk until you find the day's target, or find three named things, such as a storm drain, anywhere on Earth in six minutes.
If naming the country is enough, Locatle, Viewdle and WhereTaken show one photo and steer you with distance after each miss, and Landmarkr gives six pictures of one place. For the United States, WhereTaken US and Wheredle ask for the state.
If you want the year as well as the place, WhenTaken, TimeGuessr, EraPin, EpochLens, EraGuessr, HistoryGuesser and WenWare score you on both; the last three use 360 degree scenes you can look around, closer to the Street View feel. AussieGuessr does the same with five old photos from around Australia, and Picle from The Times gives one archive photograph a day to place and date, for subscribers. Our guide to games like TimeGuessr (/games-like-timeguessr) has more of them.
Some games change what you look at. Mercatle, SatPin and Airport Guessr work from satellite images, Satle, SatZoom and Unzoomed show a city from above and zoom out as you miss, Flyover shows an unlabelled map through a plane window, and Treasure Guessr gives a close-up street map to find on the world map. Squint shows three blurred photos of a city, LanguageGuessr plays a speaker and FoodGuessr a dish, and BallotGuessr and Ballot Blocks use Street View but ask how the county or neighbourhood voted in 2024.
Start with PlaceGuessr or DailyGuessr if you want the GeoGuessr feeling in a few minutes, add WhereTaken's pin game or TravelGuessr for photos, and keep Around Here Somewhere for days you have time to wander.
Questions
Is there a free alternative to GeoGuessr's Daily Challenge?
Yes. PlaceGuessr gives three Street View places a day with a free account, DailyGuessr one panorama a day with no account, and WhereTaken, TravelGuessr, Snaptrip and Around Here Somewhere are free dailies that everyone plays the same day; some show ads.
Which games use Street View like GeoGuessr?
PlaceGuessr and Wild Space Atlas give you Street View places to identify, Wheredle a Street View scene in the United States, Around Here Somewhere and StreetSeekr have you move around Street View to find targets, and BallotGuessr and Ballot Blocks show Street View spots but ask how the place voted. DailyGuessr uses a 360 degree street-level panorama.
Which games ask for the year as well as the place?
WhenTaken, TimeGuessr, EraPin, EpochLens, EraGuessr, HistoryGuesser, WenWare and AussieGuessr score you on both where and when, and so does Picle, which needs a subscription to The Times.
Do I need an account?
GeoGuessr's and PlaceGuessr's daily challenges need a free account, as do Unzoomed and the WenWare daily. Picle needs a Times subscription. Most of the others play in a browser without one.
