Daily Wikipedia games: races, hidden articles and link puzzles

Start with the wiki races. Each day gives everyone the same start and target, and you may only click links inside the articles. The Wiki Game Daily scores you on clicks and time, and Rabbit Hole on clicks alone; Rabbit Hole also lets you step back and marks the backtracks on your share card. WikiSpeedrun numbers its dailies, shows a par for the shortest route and counts only your first attempt. WikiParty sets several targets to find in one run, which makes it more of a scavenger hunt, and Linkdle offers the race in 62 languages. Hyperlinked gives you a limit of 10 clicks, and WikiFork turns the race into a choice: each turn shows two people, one on the shortest path to the target and one not, and you pick the closer one.

Hidden-article games are slower and more thoughtful. Redactle blacks out a whole Wikipedia article and you guess words to reveal it until you can name the title; Pedantle does the same with the opening of an article and counts how many players found it before you, and Pédantix is its French counterpart, hiding the introduction of a French Wikipedia page and greying in words close in meaning. BingeWatcher hides the article of a top-grossing film, with a new one each day for the US, UK and French box office. They reward vocabulary and patience more than speed. For more of this style, Redact on Mind Loft blacks out one article a day about a famous subject and tells you its category, and ODHALTO from Kvizky hides a Czech text about an event or person remembered on that date.

Then there are puzzles about Wikipedia's structure. Catfishing shows ten articles a day by nothing but the categories they belong to; LinkyGrid Wiki Links asks you to find pairs of pages that link to each other; Wikinections builds four puzzles from links; and Bluffpedia mixes real article summaries with fakes; its Daily Challenge needs a free account.

Two more games draw on Wikipedia without being about its pages. Jaardle shows an event drawn from Wikipedia and asks for its year in six guesses, and list animals until failure has you name animals against a clock, where any animal with a Wikipedia article counts and the daily challenge limits which ones are eligible.

For a first try, start with The Wiki Game Daily or WikiSpeedrun if you like racing, Redactle if you prefer a slow deduction, and Pédantix if you read French.

Questions

What is a wiki race?

A game where you start on one Wikipedia article and must reach another by clicking only the links inside the articles, in as few clicks or as little time as you can.

Are these the same for everyone?

Yes. Each gives every player the same puzzle that day, so results can be compared. Linkdle has its own pair for each language, and BingeWatcher its own film for each box office edition.

Can I use the search box or the back button?

In the races you move only by the links in the article text, with no search box. Rabbit Hole lets you step back when a path goes nowhere and marks the backtracks on your share card; Hyperlinked gives you 10 clicks in all.

Is there a Wikipedia game in other languages?

Yes. Linkdle runs its race in 62 languages, Redactle has versions in several languages including German, French and Spanish, Pédantix hides a French Wikipedia page, and BingeWatcher has a French box office edition.

Do any of these cost money?

They can all be played free, and Catfishing, Redactle, Pedantle and Pédantix show ads. Bluffpedia's Daily Challenge needs a free account, which gives 10 games a day; its Premium plan adds unlimited plays and removes ads.
