Ziggurwords game 1157 on a desktop: the first word solved, four blank spaces for the next word above a ziggurat of tiles with R, E and A filled and C added, and Hint, Delete, Enter and Shuffle buttons

Ziggurwords is a daily word puzzle in which you make a word from the letter tiles you have, and every correct word adds one more tile for the next, longer word. Find the whole set to complete the ziggurat in the fastest time. Hints show the next letter but add time to your score.

About Ziggurwords

Ziggurwords, made by Alastair O'Shea, is a daily anagram ladder shaped like a stepped pyramid. You start with a few letter tiles and make a word from them. Each time you get a word right, a new letter tile appears, and the next answer uses the letters you have plus the new one, so the words grow longer as the ziggurat rises.

The aim is to complete the ziggurat as fast as you can. You tap tiles to spell, and you can shuffle them for a fresh look. A hint shows the next letter of the current word, but every hint adds time to your final score, so the best results come from solving cleanly. There are five hints a day. When you finish you get a time, a star rating and a shareable score, and the stats panel shows your streak and a week of results by day.

The puzzle is numbered, the same for everyone, and a new one is released daily; in October 2026 the site was past game 1150. A day's puzzle has six words, from three letters up to eight, and the tiles stack into a pyramid of one, three and four as you go. It plays in the browser on a phone or a computer, with no account and no ads, and you can type on a keyboard as well as tap. It suits players who like anagram games such as Spelling Bee or Wordiply and want a quick timed run each day.

How to play Ziggurwords

  1. Press Play and look at the letter tiles you start with.
  2. Tap tiles, or type, to make a word from them and press Enter.
  3. Each correct word adds one new letter tile for the next, longer word.
  4. Shuffle the tiles if you are stuck, or take one of five hints at a cost in time.
  5. Find every word to complete the ziggurat, then share your time and stars.

Tips

  • The new letter often changes the word completely, so rethink rather than adding it to the end.
  • Shuffle before taking a hint: a fresh order often shows the word.
  • Hints cost time, so use them only on the last, longest words.
