Wordends Daily on 19 Oct 2026, round 1 of 10: the letters U and D, a 30-second bar and the box to type a word from U to D

Wordends shows you two letters and asks for a word that begins with one and ends with the other. The Daily gives every player the same ten letter pairs, harder each round, with 30 seconds for each, and one scored run a day.

About Wordends

Wordends is a quick browser word game built on one rule: two letters appear, and you type a word that starts with the first and ends with the second. Every letter of your word scores a point, so a long answer is worth more than a safe short one.

The Daily serves the same ten letter pairs to everyone that day, with 30 seconds a round. Early rounds are warm-ups where thousands of words fit; later ones narrow to a handful. A missed round scores nothing, but the run goes on to the next pair. After each round the game shows your word with its part of speech and a short definition, and the day's leaderboards rank the scored runs. Each player gets one scored daily run.

Besides the daily, the site has Endless play that lasts until you miss, ranked Duels against another player or a bot with a rating, and private rooms to play a friend through a link. No sign-up is needed; your rating is kept in the browser.

It suits players who like fast vocabulary recall rather than slow deduction: a daily run takes about five minutes, and the reward is finding the long word under pressure.

How to play Wordends

  1. Open wordends.com and choose Play Daily, then Start Daily.
  2. Read the two letters shown for the round.
  3. Type a word that begins with the first letter and ends with the second, and press Enter before the 30-second bar runs out.
  4. Score a point for every letter in your word; longer words score more, and a missed round scores nothing.
  5. Play all ten rounds, then see where your score lands on the day's leaderboard.

Tips

  • Common endings such as -ed, -er, -ly and -s give you a quick fallback when the timer is short.
  • Reach for a longer word when you have time: every letter is a point.
  • Late rounds have few fitting words, so think of prefixes for the first letter and suffixes for the last at once.

Questions

When do the daily letters change?

The Daily gets new letters at midnight UTC; the home page shows a countdown.
