Word Wheel is the Daily Express Target puzzle played online. Each day brings one wheel of nine letters for everyone. You spell words of four letters or more that use the centre letter, and one word takes all nine. A ten-minute clock runs while you play, and it is free with no sign-up.
About Word Wheel (Daily Express)
Word Wheel is the online form of The Express Target, the letter wheel the Daily Express prints each day. It runs on games.express.co.uk, the paper's games site, and the puzzle itself comes from PA Puzzles. The Daily Mirror's games site serves the same dated wheel.
The wheel holds eight letters in a ring and one in the middle. Every word you make needs four letters or more and must use the centre letter. Each letter can be used once per word. Plurals do not count, though verb forms ending in S do. At least one word uses all nine letters. On 26 October 2026 that word was MINIATURE, with U in the centre.
On a desktop you can type a word into the box under the wheel and press enter. On a phone you tap the letters in order and then the enter key. Accepted words go into a list beside the wheel, and a bar fills as your count grows. A clock counts down from ten minutes once the board opens.
A short video advert plays before the board appears, and the page has ad slots above, below and beside the game. No account is needed. It suits anyone who does the Telegraph's Panagram or the Times Polygon and wants a timed wheel from a British paper.

Tips
- Look for the nine-letter word early. Its letters often suggest shorter words inside it.
- Try common endings such as -ED, -ER and -ING when the letters allow them.
- Plurals are refused, but a verb ending in S is fine.
- On a desktop, typing is faster than clicking the letters.
