on wordchase.semantle.com

Word Sprint, once called Word Chase, is a short daily guessing game on the Semantle site. You start with one hint word, and each wrong guess turns over another, up to five, all related to a secret word. You have five guesses, and each one shows a percentage for how close in meaning it is.
About Word Sprint
Word Sprint is a daily word puzzle from the Semantle family of sites, made by Ryan Carmody and Praveen Latchamsetty and run by The Word Finder. Each day has one numbered secret word and five hint words related to it. On 20 October 2026, puzzle 983, the hints began with citrusy, drink and squeeze and pointed to juicer; earlier days have pointed to iron (metal, laundry, magnet) and soup (broth, creamy, savory).
The hints are not all shown at once. You start with a single hint card, and each wrong guess turns over the next one, so a quick answer is worth more than a slow one. You have five guesses in all. Each is scored with a percentage for how close it is in meaning to the secret word, worked out with word vectors in the way Semantle does it, so a wrong guess still tells you whether you are near: lemon scored 86 percent on the juicer day and blender 99.
The game started out as Word Chase and has been renamed Word Sprint; a banner on its page now points to a different game called Word Chase on CleverGoat. A new puzzle comes out at 23:00 UTC every day, which is 7 pm in New York in summer, and the page converts it to your local time. An archive lists every past puzzle by number and date, and players can also write their own puzzles for others under User games.
It is free, shows banner ads, needs no account and takes a minute or two, which makes it a quick warm-up next to Semantle or Cemantle.
How to play Word Sprint
- Open Word Sprint and read the first hint word on the card.
- Type a word that fits the hint and press Guess.
- Read the percentage: the higher it is, the closer your guess is in meaning to the secret word.
- After each wrong guess a new hint card turns over; use all the hints shown so far to narrow it down.
- Find the secret word within five guesses, then share your result or play an older puzzle from the archive.

Tips
- A guess in the 90s means you are one step away: try a closer form or a near synonym.
- The first hint is often the vaguest; a broad guess that scores well can be worth more than a wild one.
- Hints can use different senses of the word, as laundry and metal both do for iron.
- Short, everyday nouns are common answers.
