Word Scramble #1023 (Mix, 19 Oct 2026) being played on desktop: first letters of Pointed Object and Yellow or Orange Fruit locked green after swaps

Word Scramble gives you four clued words whose letters are mixed together, and you fix them by swapping two letters at a time, even between words. A letter turns green and locks the moment it reaches its right spot, so you can make progress before you know the word. Six daily puzzles differ in how they clue the answers.

About Word Scramble (Puzzleship)

Word Scramble is one of the daily word games on Puzzleship. Each puzzle shows four rows of tiles, one per answer, each under its clue. The letters are not scrambled word by word: the letters of all four answers are pooled and dealt out, so a row may hold letters that belong to another word, and a swap can move a tile from one row to another.

Because feedback comes letter by letter, you can test an arrangement without knowing the answer and let the green tiles confirm it. A tile that lands in its right place turns green and locks, so the board narrows as you go. Every tile starts out of place. Placing vowels sensibly and keeping pairs like QU, TH and CH together often reveals a word before the clue does, and one solved word takes its letters out of the pool for the rest.

The six daily tabs differ in the clue. Mix names only each word's category, such as Birds or River. Clues gives a proper definition. One Clue gives one theme for all four words and nothing else, the hardest mode. Two Clues joins two meanings with or, Associations gives three related words such as Burrow, Nocturnal and Snout for AARDVARK, and Thematic gives a theme plus a clue for each word.

Puzzleship publishes six Word Scramble puzzles a day, one in each clue style. Each day's puzzles are numbered and dated, the same for every player, and earlier days stay playable in the archive. The page says the next set appears at midnight your time, but the set dated for a day goes up at 13:00 UTC, so players in Europe and the Americas get it in the afternoon or morning, and the countdown can sit at zero until then. The site is free with ads beside and above the board, and a premium plan removes them. It suits players who like anagrams but want steady feedback rather than a blank grid.

How to play Word Scramble (Puzzleship)

  1. Open Word Scramble and pick one of the day's six modes from the tabs (a drop-down on a phone).
  2. Read the clue above each row of tiles.
  3. Tap two letters to swap them; a swap can move a letter between rows, since the four words share one pool of letters.
  4. Letters in the right place turn green and lock.
  5. Rebuild all four words to finish the puzzle.

Tips

  • Space the vowels out first.
  • Move letter pairs like QU, TH and ING together.
  • Solve the word whose clue you are surest of first: it takes its letters out of the pool and narrows the other three.
  • Use green letters as free feedback to test guesses.

Questions

How many Word Scramble puzzles are there each day?

Six, one in each clue style: Mix, Clues, One Clue, Two Clues, Associations and Thematic.

When do new Word Scramble puzzles appear?

At 13:00 UTC. The page says midnight your time, but the puzzles dated for a day go up at 13:00 UTC, and until then the previous day's set stays on the page with the countdown at zero.

Can letters move between words?

Yes. The letters of all four answers are mixed together, so a letter you need may sit in another row, and you swap it across.

Can I play earlier days?

Yes. Puzzleship keeps past puzzles in an archive.

Is it free?

Yes, with ads. A Puzzleship premium plan removes them, and no account is needed to play.
