Lay one continuous track between two exits to match the row and column counts.

on puzzlemadness.co.uk

The Medium Train Tracks grid on PuzzleMadness for 28 October 2026, 10 columns by 9 rows with given curves and straights and track counts on two edges

PuzzleMadness posts four new Train Tracks grids every day, the same for every player: Small, Medium, Large and Mixed. Draw one unbroken track from the entrance to the exit so each row and column has as many track pieces as its clue. Finished puzzles score points on the site's monthly and all-time leaderboards.

About Train Tracks (PuzzleMadness)

Train Tracks gives you a grid with two track pieces pointing off its edge, the entrance and the exit, and a few other pieces already laid. You lay one continuous railway between them so that the number beside each row and above each column matches how many squares in that line hold track. The track runs straight or turns corners, never branches or crosses.

The daily page opens today's puzzle on its own, and its title carries the date (on 28 October 2026 it read "Daily Medium Train Tracks Puzzle for Wednesday 28th October 2026 (Easy)"). There are four dated grids a day. Small, Medium and Large each have their own, and the Mixed page serves a fourth grid of its own (on 28 October 2026 they were 9x9, 10 columns by 9 rows, 12x12 and 9 columns by 10 rows). You pick a piece from the toolbar above the board and press a square to lay it, and a row or column clue turns green once its count is met. Past days stay in the archive, so a missed puzzle can be played later, and there is a print version of the grid. PuzzleMadness does not publish solutions: the site tells you when you have finished a grid correctly or made a mistake. Each completed puzzle adds to your total on the Train Tracks monthly and all-time leaderboards, where only your best score on any one puzzle counts.

Rows and columns that already have their full count can be crossed out first. Then mark the squares that given pieces lead into, since a track piece must connect to something. Low clues near the edge and high clues that nearly fill a line do the rest.

PuzzleMadness is a British puzzle site with dozens of daily puzzle types in the browser, from many sudoku variants to logic grids such as Nurikabe, Hashi and Slitherlink. It is free to play and carries ads. A free account keeps track of the puzzles you have finished and puts your name on the leaderboards, and the badges next to usernames mark how many puzzles a player has completed.

Tips

  • A clue of 0 clears its whole line.
  • Every given piece forces at least one neighbour to hold track.
  • The track cannot loop back on itself, so avoid closing off a dead end.
