Toppled is a daily word game from the maker of Blunderwall and Vowel Play. Each day's wall holds twenty letters, and you topple it by making four valid five-letter words from them. Four golden words hidden in the wall score extra, and clues help you find them.
About Toppled
Toppled gives you a wall of twenty letters arranged in four rows. Your job is to use them up in four valid five-letter words, and when the four are in place the wall topples. You tap letters to spell a word and submit it, or use the pencil to try a word as a draft before committing. A counter shows how many possible words remain; if the letters turn red, the words you have used leave no way to finish, and you tap a word twice to take it back.
The scoring comes from golden words. Each wall hides four of them, and their first letters are shown in gold. Finding them is optional but worth more points. Every third word you submit unlocks a clue that reveals the next letter of a golden word, and a word shown in purple is an anagram of one. There is a Shuffle Wall button to see the letters in a new order.
The walls are numbered, with #993 on 28 October 2026, and there is an archive of past games and a stats page. The settings add a hard mode without drafts, extra clues and a running score. A tutorial game walks new players through the rules. The game is free. An ad screen comes up before the wall, and a one-off payment of £3.99 removes the ads. Toppled is on bythomas.co.uk beside its other daily word games, Blunderwall and Vowel Play.
How to play Toppled
- Open Toppled and choose Play Today's Toppled (or the tutorial if you are new).
- Tap letters in the wall to spell a five-letter word, then submit it, or use the pencil to save it as a draft.
- Keep making words until the four use up every letter; if the letters turn red, tap a word twice to delete it.
- Look for the four golden words, whose first letters are shown in gold, and use clues as they unlock every third word.
- Finish all four words to topple the wall and see your score.

Tips
- Draft words with the pencil first: it is easier to see which letters are left before you commit.
- Start from the gold letters, since golden words score more.
- Watch the possible words remaining count; if it drops fast, your last word used too many rare letters.
- A purple word is an anagram of a golden word, so rearrange it to find the real one.
