Swapdle is a daily word-swap puzzle. A small crossword grid has all its letters scrambled, and you swap pairs by click or drag to put every word right within a limited number of swaps. Colours hint where each letter belongs, and the daily comes in four difficulties.
About Swapdle
Swapdle gives everyone the same numbered daily grids, Daily #509 on 26 October 2026, in four levels: Easy, Medium, Hard and Cruel. Each grid is a small crossword of interlocking words, and every letter has been shuffled. The game is made by Avionista AB.
You swap two letters at a time, by clicking or dragging, and you must solve the grid within the swap limit. Easy gave 23 swaps on the day we played. The colours guide you. Green means the letter is in the right word and the right position, orange the right word but the wrong position, purple that it belongs in a directly connected word, and grey that it belongs in a word that is not directly connected. On Hard and Cruel a wrong letter at a crossing shows the hint for one of its two words only, which makes the colours harder to read.
Besides the daily there is an Unlimited mode of random grids, and a statistics page. The same makers run Thirdle, Swapdoku and TravelGuessr, linked from the menu.
It suits fans of Waffle and other swap puzzles who want a choice of difficulty each day.
How to play Swapdle
- Choose the day's difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard or Cruel.
- Click or drag a letter onto another to swap them.
- Read the colours: green right spot, orange right word, purple a connected word, grey an unconnected word.
- Plan swaps so each one fixes as much as possible.
- Solve the whole grid within the swap limit.

Is there a swap limit?
Yes. Each daily grid must be solved within a set number of swaps, shown under the board. Easy allowed 23 on 26 October 2026.
How many difficulties are there?
Four: Easy, Medium, Hard and Cruel, each with its own daily grid.
When does a new puzzle come out?
The help page says a new puzzle arrives every day at midnight. It does not name the time zone.
Can I play more?
Yes, in Unlimited mode, which deals random grids.
