Squirdle board with three guesses, Pikachu, Rattata and Caterpie, marked with Poké Ball clues for generation, types, height and weight

Squirdle is a Pokémon take on Wordle by Fireblend. Each guess shows whether your Pokémon's generation, two types, height and weight match the day's secret Pokémon, with arrows for too high or too low. The daily puzzle draws from every generation and gives you nine guesses.

About Squirdle

Squirdle is a Pokémon guessing game made by Fireblend, who started it in January 2022 and keeps the code open on GitHub. The site still adds new Pokémon as games come out; a recent note on the daily page announced the Pokémon from Legends Z-A.

The daily mode picks one secret Pokémon for each date from a fixed list, so everyone playing on the same day gets the same answer. You type a Pokémon's name and the game marks five things: generation, first type, second type, height and weight. A green tick means a match, a red mark means wrong, a yellow mark means the type is in the answer but in the other slot, and up or down arrows tell you whether the answer's generation, height or weight is higher or lower. The daily covers all nine generations and gives nine guesses, and the puzzle changes at midnight on your own clock.

What makes it work is that each clue cuts the field from a different side: generation and types narrow the family, while height and weight separate Pokémon that look alike on paper. There is also a free play mode where you can limit the generations and play as often as you like, and a Stats Edition. It suits Pokémon fans who know their Pokédex and anyone who likes attribute guessing games.

How to play Squirdle

  1. Open Squirdle Daily and type the name of any Pokémon.
  2. Read the five clues: generation, type 1, type 2, height and weight.
  3. Green means a match, red means wrong, yellow means the type is in the answer but in the other slot, and arrows point higher or lower.
  4. Use the clues to pick your next guess and find the secret Pokémon within nine tries.
  5. Share your result as an emoji grid, with or without the names.

Tips

  • Open with a Pokémon from a middle generation so the generation arrow can go either way.
  • Use height and weight together: they split Pokémon of the same type quickly.
  • A yellow type clue means you have the right type in the wrong slot, so look for Pokémon with the types swapped.
  • Turn on Pokémon Info in the autocomplete to see each candidate's details before guessing.

Questions

How many guesses do I get in the daily?

Nine. The daily draws from all nine generations.

When does the daily Pokémon change?

At midnight in your own time zone.

Can I play more than once a day?

Yes. The free play mode lets you start new games as often as you like and choose which generations to include; fewer generations means fewer guesses.

Is Squirdle free?

Yes. The site shows ads and the source code is on GitHub.

What languages can I play in?

Pokémon names can be shown in English, Korean, Japanese, French and German.
