Scrokkle is a browser tile game from davy.games that crosses poker with a crossword board. Its daily page offers two runs: a Puzzle, where you fill a small board with suit hints from a given tray of cards, and a Daily Bust, where everyone gets the same deck and goes for a high score on a large board of bonus squares.
About Scrokkle
Scrokkle takes the board of a crossword tile game and fills it with playing cards. Instead of spelling words, you lay card tiles in lines across and down, and each line is scored as a poker hand. Lines cross the way words do, so one card can count in two hands.
The game has several modes. In versus you play friends in real time, and in bust you play solo for a high score. The daily page, titled Scrokkdles, has two shared challenges. The Puzzle is a small board, five by five on the day we looked, with a suit marked on each empty square and a few cards already placed; you fill it from a tray of a dozen cards and press Submit. The Daily Bust deals everyone the same deck on a large board with Double Tile, Triple Tile, Double Hand and Triple Hand squares, ten cards in hand at a time, and you play hands until you declare bust. Your daily bust score shows under its button.
Scrokkle is made by David L. at davy.games, which also makes the word game 5spell. It runs free in the browser, with no ads and no sign-up, and the page invites players to send in puzzles by email. It suits poker players who like a board game feel and word tile players who want cards instead of letters.
How to play Scrokkle
- Open the daily page and choose the Puzzle or the Daily Bust.
- Drag card tiles from your tray onto the board in lines across and down; each line is scored as a poker hand.
- Connect your hands where they cross, as words cross on a crossword board.
- In the Puzzle, match each square's suit hint and use every tile, then press Submit.
- In the Daily Bust, play hands on the bonus squares for points and press Declare Bust when you are done.

Tips
- Plan crossing points: a card shared by two hands should help both.
- In the Puzzle, read the suit hints first: a row of one suit is a flush waiting for its cards.
- In the Daily Bust, save your strongest hands for the Double Hand and Triple Hand squares.
- Use Sort Tiles to group your tray by rank or suit before you plan a line.
