Rowdle

on rowdle.io

Rowdle gives you a grid of jumbled letters each day. Swap any two tiles to rebuild the hidden words, one per row, and try to finish under the swap target. The classic five by five is joined by a mini, a maxi and a mystery board, and clearing all four completes the daily quest.
About Rowdle
Rowdle is a browser word puzzle whose numbered dailies began on 1 April 2026. Each board holds one word per row, but the letters have been shuffled across the whole grid. You win by swapping tiles until every row spells its word.
The colours work like Wordle's, turned sideways: green means the letter is in the right row and the right spot, yellow means it belongs in this row but somewhere else, and grey means it belongs in a different row. Columns do not matter, only rows. A row locks once it is solved.
There is no guessing and no limit on turns. The challenge is efficiency: the game counts your swaps and sets a target for each board, and the share text gives your count. Four boards come out each day on the same page. Classic is five rows of five letters with a target of 15 swaps. Mini is a four by four aimed at 10 swaps, and maxi is a seven by seven aimed at 30. Mystery is a five by five where five tiles show only a question mark: the hidden letters travel with their tiles, still take a colour, and show themselves when their row is solved.
A daily quest panel counts how many of the four you have finished and lets you share all four results together, with a countdown to the next set. Past days can be replayed from the Past puzzles calendar, and the infinity button deals unlimited practice boards. There are no ads and no account. Spanish and Polish editions, the Polish one called Rządle, have their own word lists.
It suits players who like Waffle or Swapple and want a grid where only the rows count.
How to play Rowdle
- Open today's classic board: five rows of five scrambled letters.
- Tap two tiles, or drag from one to the other, to swap them.
- Read the colours: green is placed, yellow belongs elsewhere in this row, grey belongs in another row.
- Keep swapping until every row is green, using as few swaps as you can; solved rows lock.
- Move on to the mini, maxi and mystery boards to complete the daily quest, then share your results.

Tips
- Fix the greens you already have first, then sort grey tiles into the rows that need those letters.
- A swap that turns two tiles green at once is the best move available; look for pairs that each belong where the other sits.
- Solved rows lock, so finishing a row early narrows the board.
- In mystery, a question mark tile still shows green, yellow or grey, so its colour tells you which row it belongs to before you know the letter.
Questions
Is Rowdle the same puzzle for everyone?
Yes. Each daily board is chosen by the date, so everyone playing the English edition that day gets the same words.
When does a new Rowdle come out?
At midnight in your own time zone; the daily quest panel shows a countdown to the next set.
How many puzzles are there each day?
Four: classic (5 by 5), mini (4 by 4), maxi (7 by 7) and mystery (5 by 5 with five hidden letters).
Can I play old puzzles?
Yes. The Past puzzles calendar replays earlier daily boards in all four sizes, and the infinity button gives unlimited practice boards.
