Rough Draft
Rate itFive things a day: put them in order by the day's measure, one insertion at a time.
on roughdraft.hindsightgames.com

Rough Draft is a daily ordering game from Hindsight Games. Each day's numbered paper asks one question, such as which takes longer, and gives you five things to stack from top to bottom, placing them one at a time. Your score out of 100 counts the pairs you got in the right order.
About Rough Draft
Rough Draft asks one question a day about the size of things. The daily paper names a measure, such as elapsed time in minutes, mass in kilograms or a US state's land area, and says what counts. Each item states its scope and reference date, so a film includes its credits and an animal range uses its upper end.
The paper starts with one item already on the page, with its value written beside it. On 29 October that was Colorado at about 268,431 square kilometres. The next four arrive one at a time, and you tap the blue line above or below the items already placed to slot each one in. Every item you place shows its own number, so the page fills up with reference points as you go.
Your score out of 100 comes from matchups: every pair of items you kept in the right order counts, and the game also counts how many insertions were exactly right. You see where your score sits among the day's papers and can share your grade without giving the answers away. A notebook keeps an academic record of your papers, with a GPA by subject and an attendance view.
Rough Draft is made by Hindsight Games, which also makes the daily history game Yearbook and the sports connections game Roster Relay. It began as a sports ranking game and now covers everyday things, films, places and animals. It suits anyone who likes to guess how big, long or heavy things are.
How to play Rough Draft
- Open Rough Draft and read the day's question and the What counts note, such as land area excluding water.
- Look at the starting item and the number written beside it.
- For each of the next four items, tap the blue line above or below the placed items where it belongs. Each placed item then shows its own number.
- When all five are placed, see your score out of 100, your matchups and exact insertions, then share your grade.

Tips
- Read the What counts note. It says whether a film includes its credits or which end of a range is used.
- Use the numbers already on the page. Once an item is placed its value shows, so later items can be judged against several known figures.
- A wrong insertion still keeps most pairs right, so place each item near where you think it goes rather than at the edge.
