Reverse Sweeper's 17 October board: a 9 by 9 grid of number clues with 10 geese to place, the timer, and the Goose, Empty and Cycle tools below

Reverse Sweeper is a daily minesweeper-style logic puzzle from Ponder Club, previously called Goose Sweeper. Numbers on the grid show how many geese sit in the surrounding cells, and your job is to deduce where every hidden goose is and flag them all. There is one shared board a day, with scores, a streak and an archive.

About Reverse Sweeper

Reverse Sweeper is a daily logic puzzle from Ponder Club, a take on minesweeper where the hidden things are geese. Each day there is one board, the same for every player.

As in minesweeper, the numbers on revealed cells tell you how many geese hide in the cells immediately around them. You read those numbers to work out which neighbouring cells must be safe and which must hold a goose, and the aim is to find and flag every hidden goose on the board.

The game saves your scores and a streak as you play, and a dated archive lets you go back to earlier boards. There is also a Zen mode for relaxed, untimed play. Ponder Club says all of its games are free with no paywalls or subscriptions. The game was previously known as Goose Sweeper.

It suits players who enjoy minesweeper and pure deduction and want one shared daily board to clear.

How to play Reverse Sweeper

  1. Open the day's board and look at the numbered cells.
  2. Read each number as the count of geese in the cells touching it.
  3. Work out which neighbouring cells must be safe and which must hold a goose.
  4. Flag the cells you deduce contain geese.
  5. Find and flag every hidden goose to finish the board.

Tips

  • Start where a number equals its remaining unknown neighbours, since all of those must be geese.
  • A satisfied number means its other neighbours are safe to open.
  • Work the edges and corners first, where cells have fewer neighbours to consider.
