Storylines board for 18 October 2026: two sentences about grandparents with empty answer boxes, a seven-letter hint line, the timer, Check Answer, Archives and Stats

Storylines is a daily word puzzle from Redividers. A short story has blanks: the first takes a single word, and the later ones take the same letters split into two or more words by adding spaces, so 'kindred' becomes 'kind red'. Solve it with as few hints and as fast as you can.

About Storylines (Redividers)

Storylines is a daily word puzzle from Redividers. Each day there is one short story, the same for everyone, with blanks to fill. The first blank takes a single word; the later blanks take that same string of letters, re-divided into two or more words by adding spaces.

For example, a story might say that someone now has a STEPSON, and then that he STEPS ON his own laces: the letters stay in the same order, but a space turns one word into two. Your job is to find the source word that, split in different places, makes every sentence read correctly.

The puzzle changes at midnight by your own device's date. There is a timed daily and an Untimed mode, an archive of past puzzles and a stats page. Solving faster and with fewer hints scores better. No account is needed, though you can sign in to keep your record.

It suits wordplay fans who enjoy puns, homophones and the trick of hearing one word as another, in a quick daily that rewards a good ear for language.

How to play Storylines (Redividers)

  1. Read the day's short story with its blanks.
  2. Choose a single word for the first blank.
  3. Divide that same word into two or more new words by adding spaces, and type those into the remaining blanks.
  4. Adjust your word until every sentence reads correctly.
  5. Solve quickly and with few hints for a better result, or switch to Untimed mode.

Tips

  • Read the sentences aloud: the split version usually sounds like the single word said slowly.
  • Let the longer, split blank guide you; it often has fewer options than the first blank.
  • Try Untimed mode first to learn the trick before chasing a fast time.
