on puzzmallow.com

Pipcross is a daily dice nonogram from Puzzmallow. You place dice from a pool into a grid so that their pips form the pattern given by nonogram-style run clues on each row and column. Each day brings a numbered set of three boards: a 3x3 Mini, a 4x4 Classic and a 4x4 Spin version where some dice can be turned.
About Pipcross
Pipcross is one of the daily puzzles on Puzzmallow, the site behind Terraformation, Buzzled, Bells & Whistles and Wordspan. It mixes a nonogram with dice: the numbers beside each row and column list the runs of consecutive pips in that line, in order, and a run can carry on from one die into the next. Your job is to place every die from the pool into the grid so that every clue is met.
You tap a die to select it and tap a square to place it, or tap a placed die to send it back to the pool. A line's clue turns green when it matches and red when the line is full but wrong. You can also tap single cells to mark a likely pip or a sure blank while you reason. In Spin mode the 2, 3 and 6 dice carry a rotate button, so you also have to work out which way each one faces.
Each day there are three boards, numbered together: a 3x3 Mini with nine dice, a 4x4 Classic with sixteen and a 4x4 Spin. A timer runs while you play and can be hidden, and there are undo and reset buttons. The daily is free with ads beside the board on a desktop; a Puzzmallow membership (2.99 pounds a month or 29.99 a year) removes the ads and opens the archive of past puzzles and some members-only modes.
It suits nonogram players who want a short twist on the format, since the dice limit which patterns each block can take.
How to play Pipcross
- Open Pipcross on puzzmallow.com and pick Mini, Classic or Spin below the board.
- Read the clues: each number is a run of consecutive pips in that row or column, and runs can cross from one die into the next.
- Tap a die in the pool, then tap a grid square to place it; tap a placed die to send it back.
- Tap single cells to mark a likely pip or a sure blank while you work it out.
- In Spin, tap the rotate icon on a 2, 3 or 6 die to turn it 90 degrees.
- Place every die so all the clues turn green.

- Remember runs can cross from one die into the next.
- Mark cells you know are empty to rule out dice faces quickly.
