Rate itName the day's mystery character from a pixelated picture in four tries.
on picguessr.io

Picguessr shows one mystery character a day as a blocky, pixelated picture, drawn from films, TV series, cartoons, comics, anime and video games. You have four tries to type the right name, and each wrong guess or skip costs a point from the five on offer. Guests can try the daily three times; after that, and for the leaderboard and past days, it needs a free account.
About Picguessr
Picguessr is a free character guessing game played in the browser, in English or French. Its Solo mode is the Daily Character: one numbered puzzle a day, the same for everyone, with a mystery character shown as a coarse grid of coloured squares. The catalogue mixes characters from films, TV series, cartoons, comics, manga and anime, and video games, so one day can be a Marvel hero and the next a sitcom doctor or a League of Legends champion.
Each round starts with five points available and four lives. You type a character name, pick it from the suggestions and submit it, or hold the Skip button for two seconds to pass. Every wrong guess costs a life and lowers the score, and the picture comes back with finer squares, so the face gets easier to read. When a guess comes from the right franchise or medium, the game marks it as the same category. The round ends when you name the character or run out of tries. There is a counter of how many players have already won that day, and a leaderboard ranks scores.
Guests can play the daily challenge three times, and then the game asks for an account to keep playing. A free account saves your score on the leaderboard, starts your daily streak, keeps your levels and opens the archive of previous daily characters, where each date keeps its own tries and result. A streak counter sits in the header, and a Shop sits beside the Solo and Multiplayer modes.
Beyond the daily, Picguessr has a Multiplayer mode: create a private game for 2 to 8 players, pick the categories and between 5 and 30 characters, and see who recognises them first. It suits players who know their pop culture across screens and want a quick picture puzzle rather than a clue-by-clue -dle.
How to play Picguessr
- Open the Daily Character from the Solo menu on picguessr.io.
- Look at the pixelated picture of today's mystery character.
- Type the character's name, pick it from the suggestion list and press Guess.
- If you are wrong, a life is used, the points on offer drop and the picture sharpens. A guess marked same category is close.
- Hold Skip for two seconds if you want to pass a try instead of guessing.
- Name the character within four tries to keep the points left.
- Create a free account to keep playing after your three guest dailies and to put your score on the leaderboard.

Tips
- Read the colours first: a hair colour, a costume or a skin tone often narrows it to one franchise.
- The catalogue covers films, TV, cartoons, comics, anime and video games, so do not lock onto one medium too early.
- Skipping costs as much as a wrong guess, so make a guess whenever you have a real candidate.
