Pancham is a daily word game about India's languages. Each day's word appears in its script and transliteration in one language after another, such as Tamil, Bengali, Telugu or Kannada, and you guess what it means in English. Hindi comes last as a lifeline, and after the round a short note explains where the words came from.
About Pancham
Pancham shows one everyday word a day, such as rainbow, rain, fire or moonlight, in Indian languages. Each clue gives the word in its own script with a transliteration underneath. You type the English meaning; a wrong guess, or the Reveal next clue button, opens the next language. Four clues come from Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi and Gujarati, and Hindi is always kept for the fifth, as the last lifeline. Solving it on the first clue in Tamil or Malayalam is the real test.
After each round the game shows all five clues and a short note on the word: which languages share a Sanskrit root, which kept a Dravidian word of their own, and what the names mean literally. For rainbow it points out that Sanskrit calls it Indra's bow, Tamil the sky's bow and Telugu Vishnu's bow.
The daily puzzle is picked by the UTC date, so everyone gets the same word, numbered from Pancham #1 on 1 July 2026. The words come from a fixed list of a few dozen that the daily works through in turn, so a regular player will meet a word again after five or six weeks. An Archive tab lets you play earlier puzzles, and the game keeps a streak and statistics in the browser, with a result to copy and share. It needs no account and shows no ads.
It suits players who speak one or more Indian languages, and anyone curious about how one word changes across the subcontinent.

Tips
- Read the transliteration aloud; many words share a sound with a language you know.
- Words with a Sanskrit root look alike in Bengali, Marathi and Hindi; Dravidian languages often stand apart.
- Think of everyday nouns first: food, weather, the body and family come up often.
