NHL Wordle on Draft Challenger is a daily guess-the-player game for ice hockey. The Wordle board gives eight tries, each guess compared with the hidden player on team, position, height and age; the Classic board gives fifteen guesses at a player from the archive, judged against one of their real seasons. Both boards are the same for everyone each day.

About NHL Wordle (Draft Challenger)

NHL Wordle is part of Draft Challenger, a sports site that runs daily player boards for several leagues beside its all-time draft game. Its own line is one player, follow the clues: a hidden player a day and a fixed number of guesses.

On the Wordle board you type a player's name and press Guess, and the row compares them with the answer on team, position, height and age. Each tile shows a match, a close miss or a miss, with an arrow on height and age pointing toward the answer, so every guess narrows the field. A chip under the name box gives the first letter of the answer's name. Eight names is the limit.

Classic is harder. A day belongs either to skaters or to goalies, and the answer can come from any season since 1917. The board opens with the era, the number of honours and a free example row, and each guess is set against the answer's real season. On a skaters day the columns are position, season, team, goals, assists, points, penalty minutes, games played and first season; on a goalies day they are wins, losses, goals-against average, shutouts and games played in place of the scoring line. Each tile is graded exact, close, similar or far. The team unlocks after four misses, and after seven you can buy another fact or reveal the answer.

Both boards change at midnight US Eastern time and keep separate streaks on your device, with a result to share when you finish. No account is needed. Below the boards the same page runs a daily draft challenge, building an all-time NHL team from shared spins. It suits fans who know current rosters and those who know the league's history.

Tips

  • Team is the strongest clue: a match leaves only that roster.
  • An arrow on height or age tells you which way to go with the next guess.
  • In Classic, open with a well-known player from the era shown, so the season line and team read straight away.
  • Use the first-letter chip under the name box to cut the list before you spend a guess.
