NEON SURGE is a single-player twin-stick space shooter roguelite on Steam. You fly an open map for 30 minutes, dash through growing hordes, pick one of three powers at a time and fight a boss at the end. Its Daily mode gives everyone the same ship and world that day, with an online leaderboard.

About NEON SURGE

NEON SURGE is a twin-stick space shooter roguelite by Miber Studio, a Brazilian developer, released on Steam in August 2026. Version 2.0 rebuilt it in October 2026 from a small arena shooter into a pixel-art game on an open map with no walls.

A run lasts up to 30 minutes. Hordes grow minute by minute, guardians arrive at 10:00 and 20:00 and your world's boss at 30:00. As you level up you choose one of three powers, and powers fuse and evolve into larger builds, with relics and hidden synergies on top. The map holds side challenges: hold the Trial Ring, hunt a golden target, accept a Cursed Shrine for a bigger prize, catch the Golden Comet.

There are 14 ships, each with its own weapon, pilot and upgrade tree, and 15 worlds painted after their bosses, from a wasp hive to a black hole. Threat Levels 0 to 10 raise the difficulty and keep a record per world and level. Modes include Arsenal, Arcade, Survival, a Journey campaign, Exploration, Challenges and the Daily, which since version 2.1 puts every player on the same ship and world that day so scores on the leaderboard can be compared.

It runs on Windows through Steam, with full controller support and six languages. It suits players who like survivors-style shooters and want one fixed run a day to set a score on.

How to play NEON SURGE

Buy and launch NEON SURGE on Steam and choose the Daily mode from the menu.
Fly with the left stick or keys and aim with the mouse or right stick; dash to slip through enemies and bullets.
Each time you level up, pick one of the three powers offered and build toward fusions.
Take on map challenges such as the Trial Ring or the Golden Comet for extra rewards.
Survive the guardians at 10:00 and 20:00 and defeat the world's boss at 30:00, then check your place on the leaderboard.

Tips

Since everyone gets the same ship and world in the Daily, learn that ship's upgrade tree before you commit to a build.
Use the minimap to find challenges early; three in a row unlock a Legendary challenge.
Keep the dash for when you are boxed in rather than for travel.
