A Minesweeper NETFLIX board over a tropical bay, with numbered squares, red flags on mines and a counter of 59 mines left

Minesweeper NETFLIX is a version of the classic mine-finding puzzle that comes with a Netflix membership. Its Daily Challenges give everyone the same three boards each day, at different difficulties, and finishing one keeps your streak going. Outside the dailies, a Journey mode clears undersea mines around the world.

About Minesweeper NETFLIX

Minesweeper NETFLIX keeps the classic rules. Each square either hides a mine or a number counting the mines around it, and you use those numbers to work out which squares are safe to open and which to flag. Here the mines are undersea, and the boards are laid over illustrated coastlines, harbours and islands, from tropical beaches to ice floes with polar bears.

The daily part is the Daily Challenges: three new challenges every day, each at a different level of difficulty, and all players see the same ones. Completing at least one a day keeps your streak alive, and monthly and lifetime awards record how you have done.

Journey mode has hundreds of levels across four biomes, in places such as Hawaii, Japan and Australia; finishing them unlocks landmarks, stamps, stickers and posters for a collection book, and new themes for Custom mode, where you choose the size and difficulty of a board. Touch controls let you zoom, pan and switch between revealing and flagging, and games in progress are saved automatically.

The game was made by Smoking Gun Interactive and is published by Netflix. It needs a Netflix membership but has no ads or in-app purchases of its own. It suits Minesweeper players who want a set of fixed daily boards on top of free play.

How to play Minesweeper NETFLIX

  1. Sign in with your Netflix account and open the Daily Challenges.
  2. Pick one of the day's three challenges; each has its own difficulty.
  3. Tap a square to reveal it; a number shows how many mines touch that square.
  4. Switch to the flag tool to mark squares you have worked out are mines.
  5. Clear every safe square to finish the challenge, and complete at least one a day to keep your streak.

Tips

  • A 1 touching only one hidden square means that square is a mine: flag it and open the rest around the 1.
  • Work along the edges of opened areas; that is where the numbers give information.
  • Zoom in on large boards before tapping so you do not open the wrong square.
  • Start with the easiest of the three daily challenges to keep the streak safe, then try the harder ones.
