Microsoft Ultimate Word Games is a free Windows collection of three word games: Crosswords, Wordament and Word Twister. Each one has a Daily Challenge that changes every day, and completing enough challenges in a month earns badges. Signing in with a Microsoft account adds Xbox achievements, leaderboards and cloud saves.

About Microsoft Ultimate Word Games

Microsoft Ultimate Word Games bundles three of Microsoft's casual word games into one Windows app. Crosswords offers grids in several sizes and difficulties, Wordament asks you to find as many words as you can on a 4x4 grid of letter tiles, and Word Twister (shown as Jumble in some artwork) gives you a rack of letters to make words from.

The daily side of the collection is the Daily Challenge: each of the three games has its own challenge every day, so there are three to play, graded easy (Wordament), medium (Word Twister) and hard (Crosswords). Each challenge sets a goal on top of the usual game, such as collecting gems in Wordament, clearing bombs in Word Twister or finding a mystery word in a crossword. Players report that everyone gets the same daily puzzles, which is why answer guides for the crossword challenges circulate online. Completing enough Daily Challenges in a month earns special badges.

Outside the dailies there are single-player adventure maps with up to three stars per puzzle, and Wordament also has a live multiplayer mode in which thousands of players race on the same board. Signing in with a Microsoft account links Xbox achievements, friend leaderboards and statistics, and stores progress in the cloud.

It suits Windows players who want a word-game habit with variety, from a calm crossword to a fast Wordament round.

The app is free on Windows 10 and 11 and is still updated (the latest update in the Microsoft Store is from August 2026). It is rated 4.8 of 5 by about 24,500 players in the US Microsoft Store and 4.2 by about 25,200 on Xbox.com.

Tips

  • In Wordament, trace longer words for more points rather than many short ones.
  • In Word Twister, find the longest word from the rack first: it often unlocks the shorter ones.
  • Sign in with a Microsoft account so your badge progress is saved in the cloud.
  • Play the three challenges in one sitting so you do not miss a day toward the badge.
