Memoku is a daily Puzzmo puzzle that crosses the memory card game with sudoku. You turn over hidden numbers to find matching pairs, and the sudoku rule that a number cannot repeat in a row, column or box tells you where a match can and cannot be.
About Memoku
Memoku is a Puzzmo daily designed by Zach Gage and Jack Schlesinger, with the puzzles made by Schlesinger, as the game's credits show. It grew out of Weather Memoku, which the two launched on Puzzmo in October 2024: a memory game on a sudoku-style grid whose pictures follow your local forecast. The number version became a regular daily and came with Puzzmo's iPhone app in 2025.
The board is a 9 by 9 sudoku grid with some numbers showing and the rest blank. Tap a blank tile and its number is revealed; then find another hidden tile with the same number to make a match. The sudoku rule does much of the work: a number appears once in each row, column and box, so when a 5 turns up the game shades the cells where its partner cannot be. You can play it like a plain memory game, flipping at random, or plan each flip from what the grid already shows.
Each day three stars sit on random tiles. Match a starred pair on the first try to earn its star, and earn a bonus star for each star matched before your 25th flip. Your time and mistakes are kept, and everyone plays the same dated board.
It suits sudoku players who want something lighter, and memory game players who want a bit more logic. The daily is free to play in a browser without an account; Puzzmo Plus opens the archive and removes the ads.
How to play Memoku
- Open today's Memoku on puzzmo.com or in the Puzzmo app; the board's date shows beside its name.
- Look at the numbers already on the grid: each number appears once in every row, column and 3 by 3 box.
- Tap a blank tile to reveal its number; the game shades the cells where its partner cannot be.
- Tap a second hidden tile you think holds the same number. If the two differ, both turn face down again, so keep in mind what each one showed.
- Go for the starred tiles early: a starred pair matched on the first try earns its star, and a bonus if it comes before your 25th flip.
- Match every hidden tile to finish the board and see your time and stars.

Tips
- Before flipping, check which numbers a box is missing; those are what its blanks hold.
- When a number is revealed, rule out its row, column and box for its partner and only flip where it can be.
- Work in one box at a time so you have fewer cells to remember.
- Flip cells where only one or two numbers are still possible; they are the safest guesses.
Questions
Is Memoku free?
Yes, the daily Memoku is free on Puzzmo and plays without an account, with ads. Puzzmo Plus, $39.99 a year with a seven-day free trial (on offer at $19.99 for the first year in October 2026), opens the archive of past puzzles and removes the ads.
What time does the new Memoku come out?
Puzzmo's day turns over at midnight US Central Time, when the whole daily page, this game included, switches to the next date. Everyone gets the same puzzle for that date.
What is the difference between Memoku and Weather Memoku?
Memoku uses numbers. Weather Memoku, launched first in October 2024, uses pictures that follow your local weather. Both have a dated daily board on Puzzmo.
Do I need to be good at sudoku?
No. You only need the basic rule that a number cannot repeat in a row, column or box.
