Lineup puzzle #1022 for 18 October 2026: five US state cards (Missouri, Oregon, California, Ohio, Arizona) to rank by when they joined the Union, with a Guess (1/5) button

Lineup is a daily ranking game. Each day it picks a category, such as films from oldest to newest, and five items to order; after each guess every card shows whether it is in the right spot, one place off, or two or more away. You have five guesses.

About Lineup

Lineup gives you one puzzle a day: five things to put in the right order by the day's category. The categories come from lists with real numbers behind them, so one day you might rank films from oldest to newest, another day US states by when they joined the Union, and another animals by speed or rivers by length. Everyone in the world gets the same five, and the puzzles are numbered from 1 January 2024.

You drag the cards, or use the arrow buttons, and lock in a guess. Each card then shows one of three colours: in the right spot, one position off, or two or more away. That makes it closer to Wordle than to a one-shot ranking game, since you can reason from the feedback, and you have five guesses to get the full order.

When you finish you can share an emoji score. The game keeps statistics, a streak, a guess distribution and achievements on your device, and there is a high-contrast setting with blue and orange feedback for colourblind players. It is free and takes about two minutes.

How to play Lineup

  1. Open Lineup and read the day's category.
  2. Drag the five cards, or use the arrows, into the order you think is right.
  3. Lock in your guess and read the colours: right spot, one off, or two or more off.
  4. Reorder and guess again; you have five guesses, then share your score.

Tips

  • Place the card you are surest of at one end first.
  • A card marked one off has only two possible places; try both before moving others.
  • Cards two or more away often belong at the opposite end.
