Invertle is one of the Daily Worder word puzzles. You have six guesses to find a five-letter word, and each guess you choose one column to divide: the game says whether that letter is earlier or later in the alphabet, and any exact letters light up. It plays free in the browser and in the Daily Worder app, with no ads and no sign-up.
About Invertle
Invertle comes from Daily Worder, a small set of hand-made word puzzles that launched as an app in April 2026, alongside Fourbe, Totum, Pyramid and Spying Bee. Its line on the page is Hone in. Upside down.
Each day there is one dated word for everyone, and the new one arrives at 5 AM US Eastern Time. The board fills from the bottom up. You type a real five-letter word, tap one column to divide, and press Enter. That column gets an arrow: up if the hidden letter is later in the alphabet, down if earlier. Every exact match, in any column, turns teal on its own, and letters that cannot be in a column are crossed out, so a small range such as A to M under each column shows what is left.
What sets it apart from Wordle and from higher-or-lower word games is the choice of where to spend each clue. You only learn about one position per guess, so the work is planning: which column to split, and which real word tests useful letters elsewhere at the same time. Guessing blindly wastes rows.
The daily puzzle is free on the web with no account. The site also has an Endless mode, and the app for iPhone and Android adds streaks, reminders and an optional paid Premium. It suits players who like a methodical, almost numeric search more than a vocabulary hunt.
How to play Invertle
- Open Invertle and press Play Today's Puzzle.
- Type a five-letter word; it fills the bottom row first.
- Tap the column you want to divide, then press Enter.
- Read the arrow on that column: up means the hidden letter is later in the alphabet, down means earlier.
- Watch for teal tiles: an exact letter shows in any column without being divided.
- Use the range under each column to narrow it, and find the word within six guesses.

Tips
- Divide a column whose range is still wide; a column at A to Z gains the most from a split.
- Pick guesses with letters near the middle of each column's remaining range, so every arrow halves it.
- Even undivided columns can turn teal, so fill them with likely letters rather than filler.
- Letters crossed out on a column are gone for that column only; check the range chips before typing.
