Hordle is a joke Wordle from Legboot. The rules and colours are Wordle's, but the hidden word is always some alternate spelling of HORSE, so the puzzle is guessing which letter has gone astray today.

About Hordle

Hordle copies Wordle's look and rules down to the statistics screen: six tries, five-letter guesses, green for the right letter in the right place, yellow for a letter in the word elsewhere and grey for a letter not in it. The help text is written tongue in cheek, saying the tiles show how close your guess wasn't to the word HORSE.

The twist is the answer. Every day's word should probably be an alternate spelling of HORSE, such as a version with one letter swapped, so most of the game is working out which letters have changed. A typical round might go from WEARY to HOUSE to HONSE.

There is one new Hordle a day, with streaks, a guess distribution, a dark theme, a high-contrast mode and a shareable result grid. It is a short daily laugh for Wordle players.

How to play Hordle

Type a five-letter guess, probably some spelling of HORSE, and press Enter.
Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right spot, yellow is in the word elsewhere, grey is not in it.
Adjust the odd letters out until you hit the day's spelling.
Solve it in six tries and share your grid.
