Higher or Lager is a free daily browser game about British pub prices. It shows the price of a pint at one Wetherspoons, then names another pub and pint, and you guess whether the second costs more or less. Ten rounds a day, the same for everyone, with a daily pub table and an archive of past days.
About Higher or Lager
Higher or Lager is a daily price game made as an unofficial fan project. The current version is the Wetherspoons Edition, marked as a beta, which uses menu prices the site says it collected on 2 October 2026 and has not independently verified.
Each round has two cards. The first is the benchmark: a pub, a pint and its known price. The second is the challenger, another pub and pint with the price hidden. You press Higher if you think it costs more or Lager if you think it costs less, and the real price is shown straight after. Pairs with equal prices are left out.
There are ten rounds in the daily game, the same for every player, and a new one at midnight UK time. At the end you get a score out of ten to copy and share, a trophy cabinet of achievements and past games saved in your browser, and the option to put a nickname on the daily pub table next to yesterday's results.
After each call the game shows how many players got that round right. The date button at the top opens a calendar of past days, so a missed daily can be played later; archive scores stay on your device and do not count toward the streak or the table.
How to play Higher or Lager
- Press Let's Get Pinted to start today's ten rounds.
- Read the benchmark pint and its price at the first pub.
- Guess whether the challenger pint at the second pub costs more (Higher) or less (Lager).
- See the real price and how many players got the round right, then move to the next round.
- After round ten, copy your score to share it and add a nickname to the daily pub table if you like.
- Use the date button at the top to play a past day from the archive.

Tips
- Think about where each pub is: the same pint can be priced differently from town to town.
- The type of drink matters as much as the pub: a premium lager and a house bitter can sit far apart.
- Each round only compares two prices, so judge against the benchmark shown, not against earlier rounds.

Yes. It is free in the browser; there is a tip jar if you want to buy the maker a pint.
Is the challenge the same for everyone?
Yes. Everyone gets the same ten rounds, and a new game starts every day at midnight UK time.
Is it run by Wetherspoons?
No. The site says it is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with J D Wetherspoon.
Can I play past days?
Yes. The date button opens a calendar of earlier daily games. Archive scores are kept on your device only and do not change your streak.
