Headshots is a daily film game from Smashcut Games. Each day brings three lineups of five actors' faces; for each one you pick an actor and name a film they appeared in, with six guesses to spend across the day. Less known actors and films score more, so the game rewards a deep knowledge of casts rather than the obvious answer.
About Headshots
Headshots is one of the free daily film games on Smashcut Games, a site that also runs Typecast, On Location, Underscore, Ensemble and Props. Its puzzles are numbered by day: the 26 October 2026 puzzle was number 29, so it began in late September 2026. It plays in the browser with no sign-up.
Each day's puzzle is three lineups of five headshots. The first lineup opens with all five faces showing; you choose any one of them and type a film that actor is in. A right answer casts the lineup and opens the next one. A wrong one costs a guess, and you have six for the whole day. Run out, and the lineups you have not cast are lost.
What sets it apart from other actor games is the scoring. You are not asked for one fixed answer: any of the five faces counts, and any film they appear in counts. Rarer faces and less known films multiply what a lineup pays, so the game invites you to reach past the famous title and name a small role in an obscure film, at the risk of spending a guess. The film data comes from TMDB.
It suits film fans who know casts and character actors and like a game where the answer is theirs to choose. A day takes a few minutes, and the site's dashboard keeps a day streak across all its games. Each day also has a leaderboard under a stage name the site gives you, lobbies let friends compare results, and past days can be bought with tickets earned by sharing a finished day.
How to play Headshots
- Open smashcut.games/headshots and press Begin to see the first lineup of five actors.
- Pick one of the five faces you recognise.
- Type the title of a film that actor appeared in and press Guess.
- A correct film casts the lineup and opens the next; a wrong one costs one of your six guesses for the day.
- Cast all three lineups before your guesses run out, aiming for less known actors and films to raise your score.

Tips
- Any of the five faces counts, so start with the actor you are surest of when guesses are low.
- The score rises for obscure picks: a supporting role in a small film pays more than a star's biggest hit.
- Keep a spare guess or two for the third lineup, since a miss there loses the lineup outright.
Questions
What time does Headshots reset?
A new set of headshots comes at midnight UTC, when the site's countdown to new games runs out.
How many guesses do you get?
Six guesses for the whole day, shared across the three lineups. Only a wrong film costs a guess.
Is Headshots free?
Yes. It plays in the browser for free with no sign-up.
Can I play past days of Headshots?
Yes, through the site's Rewards page. Sharing a finished day earns a ticket, and a ticket buys a pick of three past days you have not played. Past days go on that day's leaderboard but do not count toward your streak.
