The Gradientle board of 19 October 2026 at desktop size: fifteen scrambled colour tiles from violet and teal to amber and green, with Hint and Give Up buttons

Gradientle is a daily colour puzzle. A grid of tiles forms a gradient between four fixed corner colours, but the inner tiles are scrambled, and you drag tiles to swap them until the colours blend smoothly. Your score compares your moves with the minimum needed, and everyone gets the same gradient each day.

About Gradientle

Gradientle, from Odd Behavior Studios, gives you one gradient a day. The four corner tiles are fixed and define the colours the gradient runs between; everything else is shuffled. Drag one tile onto another to swap them, and keep going until the whole grid flows evenly from corner to corner.

The gradients are calculated in the OKLAB colour space, where equal steps look equal to the eye, so a tile that looks slightly off really is off. Edge tiles, constrained by two fixed corners, are the easiest to place. If you get stuck, hints highlight tiles already in the correct position, and you can give up and try again the next day. The results screen shows moves made, moves needed, how far over par you went, hints used and your time.

There is one puzzle per day, and everyone plays the same one, so results can be compared. The site tracks games played, win rate and streaks, and offers dark mode. Progress is saved in the browser, so you can leave a puzzle and come back to it the same day, and a countdown shows when the next one arrives at midnight. It suits players with a good eye for colour who like calm sorting puzzles.

How to play Gradientle

  1. Study the four fixed corner tiles; they set the gradient's colours.
  2. Drag a tile onto another to swap their places.
  3. Work from the edges inward until the colours blend smoothly.
  4. Use a hint to see which tiles are already right, or give up if needed.
  5. Compare your moves with the par and share your result.

Tips

  • Sort tiles mentally into warm and cool halves before placing any.
  • Check hue, saturation and brightness separately; a tile wrong in only one is close.
  • Fill the edges first, since each is constrained by two corners.
  • After placing a tile, check all four of its neighbours.

Questions

Is it the same puzzle for everyone?

Yes. The site says there is one puzzle per day and everyone plays the same one.

How is it scored?

By how many moves you use compared with the minimum needed.

What do hints do?

They highlight tiles that are already in the correct position.

When does a new Gradientle come out?

The about page says the puzzle resets at midnight. The game uses your device's date, so it changes at midnight where you are.
